No return specialist?

Nope. Would have Chris Moore field kick returns and Snead field punts. None of the returners were ever going to set the world on fire and I’d much rather have Lasley’s potential over the minimal gains provided by the return options.

Edit: The only way I would add a return specialist to the mix is if we a) trade RG3 or b) cut Carl Davis

And I feel much more comfortable with our depth being strong on the DL than having an average-above average return specialist.

Yeah but I mean you have to catch the ball first to get to that point.

I agree, if the Perriman BS continues, he isn't worth the spot, but so far he brings something to the table which we don't have much of.

I hope he doesn't get picked up and that he comes back on the practice squad.

Yeah this is my hope as well. I thought of all the options we could cut, his injury, time away from the field, and lack of high level performance in the offseason might allow us to sneak him onto the practice squad. Whereas I was not nearly as confident with many of the other options that we could cut.

Exactly. His hands can be an issue and will likely continue to be an issue. But Torrey Smith didn’t have the best hands either, yet he made some significant plays for us throughout his career and was a good #2 receiver due to his skill set. Lasley’s hands are better than Smith’s, his concentration is worst though.

Lasley is explosive and brings YAC potential to the table. He’s not going to fix our receiver position. But I feel more confident that Lasley can develop into a go-to #2 receiving option for us down the road than Snead or Brown. Crabtree will soon be on the decline. I like Chris Moore too, but you need at least three receivers. In 2019, I would expect Moore/Lasley to carve out nice roles. Moore will probably do it by the end of this season.
