It’s the only way I can see it working for Teddy. He’s seen what an injury can do for a career. He’s gonna wanna guarantees, and if he’s not starting right away he’s gonna want bigger guarantees that assure him a starting job for at least a couple years after he takes over. If we don’t offer him that he’ll leave for another team that will. Part of having him here this year is also convincing him that New Orleans and this staff is the best thing for Teddy long-term. Hes 25... Aaron Rodgers did not start in Green Bay until he was 27 and Steve Young in San Fran until like 30 but both have had hall of fame careers and made there money. I firmly believe that Payton and the Saints will sell Teddy on the future here in New Orleans even if that means hes not the starter for a couple years.
