Players recently cut that could make our team!!

-Dan Bailey should be called right away.

-Two young dlinemen cut today in Mario Edwards and Caleb Brantley are intriguing but I think the skins are happy with who they have there.

- If we’re all about raw athletic freaks at safety,  I’d rather Obi Melifonwu than Troy Apke.

- Both Jonathan Cooper and Xavier Su’a-Filo are probably better than Lauvao but he knows the system well and I doubt they excite the coaching staff enough to replace him.

I’d love to sign Bo Scarborough and drop Kelly. He’d give Peterson a breather in short yardage (sorry fantasy owners) and long term could do the same for Guice. Plus we’d be one more Bama guy closer to hiring Saban!

Sign me up.  And a bonus, he spent the entire offseason learning Dallas' playbook.  Could help us gameplan for them.

Bailey yes, at least for a workout.

I'm not interested in Edwards at 6’3, 280 for our defense. He’s best at 4-3 RDE/strong side DE, not our D. Not interested in Brantley either.

Obi got cut because he can’t stay healthy, and can’t stay in the field. Apke has things he needs to work on, but he’s just as athletic, is more of a FS than a SS like Obi and Apke has WR hands and range. We need to just develop Apke and chase other teams 2nd round mistakes who can’t stay healthy.

Quote
Raiders waived/injured S Obi Melifonwu.
The No. 56 overall pick of the 2017 draft, Melifonwu was limited to just five rookie appearances by knee and hip injuries. The hip issue lingered all offseason. He was sent to visit a specialist for a "lower-body injury" last week, presumably related to his hip. Melifonwu will be exposed to waivers but likely pass through unclaimed, reverting to injured reserve. If he gets healthy, it's possible he will be released with an injury settlement. Aug 23 - 4:31 PM

I don’t know if Copper or Su a-Filo are better than Lauvao especially because Lauvao is so experienced in our offense. They should be brought in for depth though.

Good stuff, Turtle. See when I look at Edwards though, I see a 3-4 DE. While he’s listed at 280lb, he has a pretty stout frame. He doesn’t have the length or quickness to play DE in the 4-3 imo. Either way, I think we’re happy with our dline. I liked both Edwards and Branley as draft prospects so that why I bring up their names.

280 is stout for a 4-3 DE, not for out Defense. Our DEs are near 290 plus. Some talked about Allen and Lanier being undersized because they’re about 290, and not near 300 lbs, 280 isn’t a big deal, I just don’t think he’s needed.

Dan Bailey is now available ....

I mean...this has to be some kind of a trap...right??

Still think I would walk headlong into it.

If there's one position group I'm not worried about barring getting absolutely ravaged by injuries, it's the defensive line. Only guy who I would trade out is Ziggy Hood and I'm not sure dumping him for Edwards or Brantley would be all that much of an improvement.

Sign Paxton Lynch. He sucked in Denver but he’s very young and Jay is supposed to be the QB whisperer. Take a chance on a talented guy who hasn’t put it together at this level.

This, no.

I’d rather have Davis Webb from the Giants. He showed more than Lynch, Lynch was pretty awful. Man how I wish Jerry Jones had traded up for him a few ago instead Luck boxing his way into Dak Prescott.
