vike daddy
The Lions are receiving inquiries about receiver Golden Tate, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports. The question is: Do the Lions want to move him? Even though the Lions are 3-4 and last in the NFC North, they are only a game behind the first-place Bears. Pelissero adds the Lions would have to be “blown away” to deal him. Tate, 30, leads the Lions with 69 catches for 517 yards and three touchdowns. Eight of his receptions have gone for 20-plus yards. He has gone over 1,000 yards receiving in three of the past four seasons with Detroit. Tate joined the Lions in 2014 after four seasons in Seattle, signing a five-year, $31 million contract that pays him a $7 million base in this his last year of the deal. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/10/29/report-teams-inquiring-about-golden-tate/

Krauser
I'd love to see Detroit trade Tate out of the division, he's really good. Landing Damon Harrison for a late round pick was a huge steal. He's one of the best NTs in the game. The Lions run defense and pass rush have been surprisingly good despite Ansah being out. Da'Shawn Hand has been excellent as a 4th round rookie (who was available when the Vikings drafted Jalyn Holmes), and A'Shawn Robinson has developed nicely. They'll have an excellent DL with those 2 next to Harrison. The LBs and edge rushers are only OK but it's not a bad front 7 at this point. Their secondary has been the weak spot. Darius Slay has struggled all year and Quin is showing his age. Everyone else beyond the top 2 guys (Nevin Lawson, Teez Tabor, Deshawn Shead, Quandre Diggs) has been mediocre to terrible. Their offense has been good, with Golladay stepping up as a major weapon in the passing game, Kerryon Johnson having a nice rookie year, and the OL playing respectably well. They're not out of it yet, but at 3-4 with games still remaining with the Rams and Panthers (both home games at least), the Lions probably have to go at least 4-1 in their remaining division games (at GB, home-and-home with MIN and CHI) to finish 9-7 or better. I guess Golladay will play more in the slot with Tate gone, and TJ Jones gets the WR3 role. Golladay is really good, and should be productive from the slot, but it's still nice to see Tate gone. byuvike88
I'm stoked Tate is gone. He seemed to always give the Vikings problems. Not to mention I was at the game a couple years ago where he flipped into the endzone to end the game in overtime. In the same endzone he did it too.
VikeManDan
I think it was a great trade for Detroit. Got a 3rd rounder for him in 2019 rather than a potential comp pick in 2020. Golladay has shown he is more than capable, we'll see how he handles it with Tate no longer being a factor.
swede700
Quote Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia is apparently really into lower-back health. Patricia had a terse exchange at Wednesday's news conference over a reporter's supposedly bad posture. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2803811-matt-patricia-rips-reporters-posture-have-a-little-respect-for-the-process?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial RESPECT THE PROCESS! vike daddy
The Lions have placed TJ Lang on injured reserve today, ending his second straight injury-plagued season in Detroit. Lang signed a three-year, $28.5 million contract with the Lions, but there’s talk that the Lions will release him this offseason rather than pay him the $9 million he’s due to make in 2019. Lang’s contract now looks like an expensive mistake by Detroit. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/11/14/packers-cheap-approach-with-t-j-lang-was-smart/

The Vikings should be interested in anyone that can improve their offensive line. However, Lang isn't a guy that the Vikings should seriously consider for a starting position. If he is looking to sign as a backup they absolutely should think about it. They need a solid starter in front that makes it clear that it isn't a camp competition for a starting position. With his recent injuries he shouldn't be counted on as a starter IMO.

But he'd be just as good as anyone we've had a LG this year right? Even so, if we need a backup, wouldn't it be better to see if Danny Isidora develops into something?
