swede700
Quote Tommylee Lewis will be wearing a new uniform in 2019. Lewis was set for restricted free agency this offseason, but the Saints did not tender him a contract before the start of the new league year. That decision made Lewis an unrestricted free agent and the Lions announced his addition on Tuesday. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/03/19/lions-sign-tommylee-lewis/ Now Trae Waynes will get 2 cracks at him this year. vike daddy
The Dolphins don’t really have a quarterback of the future at the moment, or a clear path to finding one. But they tried to make a bold move to fix that last year. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins were interested in trading for Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, with then-coach Adam Gase reaching out to Lions coach Matt Patricia to see what it would take to do a deal. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/03/26/report-dolphins-tried-to-trade-for-matthew-stafford-last-year/

Detroit probably could have gotten a 1st rd pick and maybe another pick somewhere down the line. It also depends upon when the deal would have been done. Potentially, they could have used that Dolphins pick to trade up to get ahead of the Cardinals and drafted Rosen.
swede700
Quote Kelly Stafford, the wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, announced Wednesday she will undergo surgery to remove a brain tumor. The tumor was discovered after the Lions' team doctor recommended an MRI following several instances of vertigo. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2829320-matthew-staffords-wife-kelly-announces-she-will-undergo-surgery-for-brain-tumor?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial
vike daddy
Don’t expect the Lions to move up in the first round of the draft next week, but they might move down. Lions General Manager Bob Quinn said today that he could see himself moving down, but he doesn’t think he has the ammunition to move up any higher than where the Lions currently are, at No. 8. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/18/bob-quinn-could-see-the-lions-move-down-but-not-up/ Edited April 18, 2019 by vike daddy
SteelKing728
But how are they going to get their Tight End if they move down?!?
vike daddy
The Lions signed Danny Amendola not only for his ability in the slot but also for his leadership and his familiarity with Matt Patricia’s way of doing things. Kenny Golladay: “We’re still just figuring each other out, but I know one thing, his work ethic is crazy. It’s through the roof. He wants to push everyone. And when you have a guy like that, a vet guy, a savvy vet, you just really want to follow up under him. I’m not going to let him go out there and out-run me.” https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/23/danny-amendolas-presence-should-help-kenny-golladay/

vike daddy
The Lions are making adjustments up front after the retirement of T.J. Lang, including moving last year’s first-rounder. Via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Frank Ragnow was working at center as the Lions opened OTAs Monday. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/05/21/lions-shuffling-line-frank-ragnow-to-center/
Krauser
Darius Slay and Damon "Snacks" Harrison are skipping minicamp, looking for extensions with 2 years remaining on their contracts. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2019/6/3/18651222/darius-slay-says-hes-skipping-mandatory-minicamp Quote Darius Slay has remained relatively quiet over the past few weeks. The Lions star cornerback has been absent throughout the Detroit Lions’ voluntary workouts including the first two weeks of OTAs. According to the Detroit Free Press, Slay is hoping for a new contract. Though the Lions’ All-Pro cornerback has two years remaining left on his deal, an argument could easily be made that he is getting underpaid in comparison to other top-tier cornerbacks. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/06/04/damon-harrison-will-skip-lions-mandatory-minicamp/ Quote Lions defensive tackle Damon Harrison recently suggested that “major news” is “coming soon.” While this may or may not be it, the veteran defensive lineman won’t be at the team’s mandatory minicamp, per a source with knowledge of the situation. Harrison is due to make $6.75 million this year and $9 million in 2020, the final year of his contract with the Lions. ... Slay has 2 years left on a $48M/4 extension signed in 2016, compare to Rhodes who got $70M/5 a year later Harrison has 2 years left on a $46M/5 deal originally signed with the Giants in 2016. Compare to Linval Joseph who got $50M/4 a year later. The Lions defense should be good this year as long as they get Slay and Harrison back in the fold. Their secondary is the weak spot, after Slay and Justin Coleman, but the DL could be one of the best in the league.
