He still isn't good which isn't surprising for a backup. Lang would be a better backup IMO for 2019. It depends on how much the team wants to weight 2019 quality of backup versus development for 2020. This year they want to get better. As it turns out, Quin will have to answer both of those questions. The Lions announced on Friday that they have released the veteran safety. Quin said farewell to Detroit in an Instagram post shortly before the announcement and the team released a statement thanking him for his “countless contributions” since joining the squad in 2013. Quin’s future with the team was in some doubt because rookie Tracy Walker began to take some of his playing time over the course of the regular season. New England went to the Super Bowl that season, and after the 2017 season, and after the 2018 season. Van Noy is enjoying himself. Van Noy said on Pardon My Take that by getting traded from Detroit to New England, he felt like he was moving from the pits of the league to the penthouse. Van Noy: “I’m gonna repeat what my friend said so I don’t get in trouble. He’s like ‘You went from the toilet bowl, to the Super Bowl.' Then when I got there, it was like, they had a plan for me. Then that plan got bigger with how I played. The Lions are cutting Lawson, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Although he was a starter, the decision to cut him is not a big surprise, as it will save the Lions almost $5 million in cap space. Cornerback is a position where the Lions would like to find an upgrade across the field from Darius Slay. Lawson has played his entire NFL career in Detroit, where he was drafted out of Utah State in the fourth round in 2014. If all goes well, Amendola is expected to sign a contract to join the Lions for the 2019 season.
