After Week 1, I could see the Texans picking up

- T Austin Pascztor (dumping Lamm... finally)

- G/T David Quessenberry (dumping Ervin)

- OLB/DE John Simon (dumping Scarlett or Kalambayi [to practice squad])

- Another DB (Amerson, Myrick, Robinson to replace AJ Moore)

May be just wishful thinking, but IIRC vet contracts are not guaranteed after Week 1 so makes them more attractive (AFTER Week 1).

Heard this on the radio this AM, figured I'd check the pulse over here (but didn't want to create a new thread):

Would anyone here endorse trading for Le'Veon Bell? You'd probably have to give up both 2nd round picks in 2019 and maybe some 2020 capital, plus you'd have to sign him to a big contract for a RB...but would you consider it?

I'd actually say no. His skill is unquestioned, but he's got knees issues, a ton of touches and is one toke away from a year long suspension. It would be tantalizing to pair him up with our O, but too cost prohibitive and risky.

no way. With our offensive line, I dont think it would be smart to invest in that kind of RB. I dont think the upgrade over Miller would be worth it. It sucks that Foreman will probably never be the running back of the future that he looked like pre injury. I thought we were set with him taking over this season and miller being the number 2, and then cutting miller in the off season. At this point, since we are not hurting for cap space, I would look to resign Miller for a few years and lessen his cap hit for next year, which isnt too bad anyways.

I'd bring in T Austin Howard for a look along with Pasztor.  87 starts at RT including all 16 for Balt last year.  Quality vet insurance, but not too old at only 31.

I like the C. Coleman move, but not gunna hold my breath. Agree, Smith should be on PS.

I think Chachere gets the call up from PS.  I definitely prefer a vet.  Gotta at least bring in Bashaud Breeland for a look.  Eric Reid remains the best secondary piece out there and it ain't close.  Plays the slot well.

Wouldn't complain if we brought Kurtis Drummond back.  I would have had Dee Virgin next up on the list, but Detroit claimed him off waivers.

pruitt is gone, the titans signed him from our practice squad.

Johnson is going to be out "for a while" so we are going to need to either send him to IR or we have to release someone to bring up another corner, especially with Webster being hurt right now too. We only have two CBs right now plus a guy like Bademosi who could play. We do have 3 legit safeties though.

Henderson is out for the year, so i am thinking we bring Slade up from the PS. He played decently in the pre season with the 2s.

if all i said above comes to pass, we will have two openings on our PS soon.

I'm hoping we give Bashaud Breeland a call - starter experience, was a sought after free agent, was expected to be healed up from his foot injury - could be a pick up we can use (and would add to our Clemson count).

Yippee - we promoted Roderick Johnson who was abysmal this pre-season at OT, yes worse than Kendall Lamm. Austin Howard, Chris Clark, Cornelius Lucas all brought in, but we stuck with the devil we know.   No word yet on Kevin Johnson, but this one is complicated since we were dumb enough to pick up his option meaning we are on the hook for close to $10m if he is put on IR and can't pass a physical before next year.  As a reminder, we were ready to sign Aaron Williams last year, but nobody would pass him after his concussion issues.   Feel bad for the guy, but he simply doesn't need to play football anymore.  The guy's frame doesn't seem built for contact and his horrific technique is going to get him killed.  He didn't seem "all there" this week as his errors were almost all mental.

Update - We sent KJ30 to IR.  Can return week 10, but that didn't seem to work out so well for Fido under similar circumstances last year.
