Klomp
I know this isn't about the Vikings specialists, but there's a lot of really good info in here that I don't want to get buried in another thread.
vike daddy
Dan Bailey, who was facing his former team for the first time, kicked a pair of comfortable field goals that were actually shorter than the pair of extra points he added. Bailey’s eight points give him 999 in his career, which is tied with Dan Carpenter (2008-16) for 62nd all-time. https://www.vikings.com/news/5-takeaways-zimmer-s-gutsy-call-pays-off-in-vikings-win

vike daddy
what has been Bailey's made and missed record since the Vedvik affair?
vike daddy
It's fair to say that the Vikings made mistakes in all three phases on Sunday, particularly in the first half. But worth noting is a string of miscues by Minnesota's special teams that Ameer Abdullah emphasized postgame cannot happen moving forward. Abdullah fumbled a kickoff return late in the second quarter, giving the Broncos possession at the Vikings 17. Fortunately, Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo intercepted Allen to ensure Denver did not capitalize on the turnover. In addition, Mike Hughes muffed two punt returns; he recovered his own fumble during the second quarter, and linebacker Eric Wilson recovered another mis-handled ball in the fourth. Then with six minutes left in the game, the Vikings allowed Diontae Spencer to return a kickoff 42 yards and give Denver favorable field position. A bright spot in the Vikings special teams performance were the specialists. Punter Britton Colquitt punted five times, averaging and netting 47.2 yards per boot, and kicker Dan Bailey was 3-for-3 on PATs, surpassing 1,000 career points. https://www.vikings.com/news/5-takeaways-vikings-outcome-determined-on-final-play-for-3rd-straight-week?sf223879584=

He hasn't returned punts or kicks in a regular season game since high school.
VikeManDan
Hughes can kick rocks on punt return duties. Really miss Sherels in that regard, you knew he was going to catch it.

That or they want better CBs active on game day.

Sherels was good fir very little than a reliable catch on punts lately. we should strive for more production than that.

At this point I'd settle for that but it would be hard to keep him on the roster just for that

Hughes isn’t the answer either, you just hope he can get better at fielding punts. I hope MN can prioritize finding a PR in the late part of the draft.
PrplChilPill
It's hard to believe no WR can field punts at this point..... Or Hughes for that matter.
