Had to give up on a couple of guys after I saw I probably wouldn't be able to catch back up. Know when to fold em.

Matthew Miller is the 2nd coming of Cedric Rushing but he might be more geared towards Corner than safety. He's got 90 speed, 86 MCV, 95 ZCV, 83 PRC and some good catching skills on the offensive side of things. Dude will be a stud, no doubt. That said, if one of the other schools on his list starts going after him, I likely won't be able to hold onto him. Just gotta hope he continues to fly under the radar, I lost a bit of ground this week but that's because I don't have points on him until now. I think Texas A&M which is his #1 school right now has him on their board but isn't actively recruiting him. I don't know if I'm going to keep pursuing him because I think Texas A&M will start going after him in a few weeks.

There's definitely a few more guys lined up right now. I don't think I'm going to be pursuing OLB all that intensely just because of how many young players I have at the position right now. I'll probably go after Austin Smith in a couple weeks when Tony McDougal commits.

Welcome back to the Ray O'Conner Bowl!
Well it turns out this actually was a rivalry back in the day in the Sun Belt conference. Battle for the Paladium

Middle Tennessee State leads now at 12-9, but the Trojans are 1-0 against the Blue Raiders under Head Coach Pete Holmes

Scoring Summary
  1st Q 2nd Q 3rd Q 4th Q Final
Mid Tenn State 0 3 0 0 3

Er make that 2-0 under Head Coach Pete Holmes!
In fact this was the biggest blowout in the rivalry's history, beating the mark set by Troy beating MTSU 45-7 in 2007.

So despite holding them to just 3 points, we had no interceptions, no forced fumbles, and no sacks. We just played smart football and almost always got them off the field.

Offense had a relatively relaxed day doing what they needed to do, without much resistance.

Mendoza held up on those turnovers this time and connected with WR/TE Sam Letton twice in the first quarter for scores. WR Matt Adams also caught one later in the game.

Both the tailbacks did solidly on the day. Not much to say about this one other than we were the better team all around.

Oh and before I forget.

Ray O'Conner:
0 Rushing attempts, 1 catch for 3 yards.

Ray you could have taken Gary Stewart's spot but you decided to screw me over. I hope you enjoy being on the bench forever. You're a senior next year friend.

Join me next week as we have our toughest matchup of the season as #12 Troy (4-0) travels to #14 Mississippi State (3-1) for what should be a great matchup.

  • Had to give up on ATH Matthew Miller and Safety Matt Ball. Apparently other schools were just more attractive. Man Texas A&M's class is absolutely stacked this year.
  • I may or may not be able to get Daniel Robinson, I"m not too worried though, if I can't I'll just move Austin Smith from C to G and worry about Center in another year.
  • WR Tony McDougal committed to Troy! I may end up with too many WRs depending on where I can fit in my athletes. Hoping for a TE from one of them and some defensive players primarily.

It was a relatively low scoring affair. Neither offense could seem to stop their wheels from spinning for the most part. But there was one who saved the Trojans...

Usually this season I've preferred a 2 back system, but I had to keep rolling with Henderson, he was the only one keeping our team afloat. Mendoza started out pretty solidly driving down the field and throwing a TD on the first possession to Matt Adams, but after that well he threw 2 picks shortly before half time and one just after half time. From that point on I had to just pass only when necessary, and Henderson was on a hot streak so I didn't want to take him out. We went for it on 4th and short twice around our own 40 yard line and we got them both thank goodness.

I still want to get Gary Stewart more touches moving forward, but I had to play it safe in this game.

At this rate, Mendoza may actually be staying for his senior season, but who really knows. It will be much tougher all next season. Troy has been hearing from a few conferences that there's interest in them joining.

After last week's rough showing for Mendoza I wanted to let him have a great day to make up for it. He really likes throwing to his TE and his #1 receiver. His one pick unfortunately was in the endzone but still a good day. Matt Adams would have had another TD if he was a bit faster, he ended up catching a 12 yarder with a 35 yard YAC, couldn't make it to the endzone though. The running game honestly wasn't stellar until the very end of the game.

Finally got Kitchen Sink level 3.
The only two I'm worried about this time are the two interior lineman I'm going after. I'm not sure how Clemson is possibly gaining so much ground on Robinson, but I'm going to keep on going after him.

Usually we don't fair tremendously in the turnover department and that's what will keep games close, but we capitalized on that today. It's not like our offense was lighting it for huge drives all the time, we only had 4 more first downs throughout the game than they did. Most of their offense came on two bomb plays and in the 2nd half against my backup defense though.

I swear I wasn't trying to feed Letton all 4 of those Touchdowns. Mendoza just found him open time and time again near the endzone, most of them were in goal to go, except 1 was a 30 something yard pass over the middle where Letton fought for the last few yards shaking off poor tackles.
Young CB Terrence Dunlap had himself quite a game with a pick 6 and two other deflections.
Mendoza did have I think three passes that were over 30 yards. 1 to each Letton, Parham and Adams.

With visit week coming up I don't need to unload points onto some of the guys I know I'll have wrapped up after this game. So I started on a couple new guys:
DT Terrell Tucker could potentially see play time as DT2 next season behind Marcus Webb, if not, I can redshirt him.
ATH (WR) Danny Jackson is a big bodied with 90 speed. He will be a perfect replacement for Letton who I think is currently a Junior.

A combination of this thread and feeling like playing a football game but seeing not much has changed with Madden's CFM has meant that I've got out my PS3 for the first time in 2 years to play this.

Started a new Dynasty with Tulane - although considering I have forgotten how to play this it might not have been the smartest idea xD

So now that we've had homecoming, lets break down all of our future Trojans.

  • QB Tyler Taylor, he's the heir to Ryan Mendoza who will likely be a top 10 pick after the following season. I'll redshirt him his freshman year and when Mendoza likely enters the draft, he'll take over as the starter as a redshirt freshman.
  • T JR Morris, I don't know if he'll see early playing time given that we have a lot of young talent there, but he'll definitely be a multiple year start on the offensive line somewhere. I may slide him to Guard if it seems like he'll see more use there.
  • G Daniel Robinson, We have 3 of our 6 guards graduating after this season. I don't know how much playing time he'll see in his career due do the two freshman that are currently redshirted there right now, but he'll be a valuable player at some point for sure.
  • DT Derrick Shaw I have my top and my 4th (out of 4) DT graduating after this season. I haven't decided whether or not to redshirt him yet. I don't know if it makes sense to let him go without a redshirt as he won't be starting. Still a decision to make on that one. My other two DT besides the ones already mentioned graduate after next season, so that position will see some major turnover. I'm thinking I might redshirt him and one other DT. I don't know yet.
  • C Austin Smith, I do already have a stud redshirt freshman at Center so if I redshirt him he'll see at least two years of playing time at the end of his career.
  • ATH (CB) George Montgomery, I plan on redshirting him for sure, I will have 4 corners of about 80 OVR or higher next season so he'd be low on the depth chart. That said he'd be able to be a 3 year player (after Marcus Jones and Terrence Dunlap graduate) and I do use quite a few corners.
  • ATH (WR/S) Darryl Walker, given how depth is shaking out it's more likely I'll have him at FS, making him Cedric Rushing's eventual replacement, whenever that might be.
  • WR Tony McDougal, I don't really know at this point. He may see some play time towards the end of his career, definitely redshirting him and any other freshman wideouts. I usually use 3, and on a rare occasion a 4th.

Have you ever noticed another school gain 1500+ points on you in one week that didn't involve a visit?  That just happened to me and I had no clue what to do about it

It's because they used the "Unlock" ability. It is pretty annoying.
