2018 Stat Watch

Some interesting numbers to watch over the next two weeks.

Watson needs 408 yards to pass 4,000 for the season. That might not sound like much, but no Texans QB other than Matt Schuab has ever broken 4,000. In fact Watson already has the 4th best season, and at his current average will finish with the 3rd all time. Watson is also at 24 TDs, and in our system hes probably not gonna throw 6 over the next two weeks, but no Texans QB has ever thrown for 30 TDs in a season.

Lamar Miller is currently just 183 yards away from a career high. I suspect that his injury will prevent him from getting that however. We have only had 4 players in franchise history to rush for over 1,000 yards (Foster, Williams, Slaton and Miller)

The Texans WR record book literally has two names in it, Andre Johnson and Deandre Hopkins. Those guys make up the 14 best seasons in franchise history. Hopkins would need 278 yards over the next two games to break Andre Johnson's franchise record, and I think that is out of reach. He can possibly set a new career high, though that would require 200 yards. The interesting thing about the record book is that Hopkins has the top 3 seasons for TD catches in franchise history. He would need 3 more this year to pass his own record.

Hopkins currently has 7,186 carrer yards. Two monster games to end this season would in theory put 9,000 in reach for next year, but would still require a monster year. More than likely he ends next season around 8600 yards and shoots for 10,000 in 2020.

JJ Watt has put up some insane numbers, especially after many including myself thought he was finsihed. look at this stat line:
14.5 sacks, 21.5 TFL, 4 PD, 6 forced fumbles.

That is monster. He probably doesnt have enough to get him 5.5 sacks in two games and cross the 20 mark for another time, but he is currently sitting just 2 sacks out of the league lead. If Watt hadnt already won 3 DPOY awards, he would be right up there again this year. I hope he leads the league in sacks and wins it a 4th time, but who knows.

Fairbairn hasnt gotten talked about much, which means hes doing his job, but the guy is kicking 34 of 39 on the season, including 17 of 17 from inside of 40 and hes 4 of 6 from 50+. After years of suspect kicking, this guy has been great for us.

so 600 catches 9,000 yards and 60 TDs is possible for next year.

And he'll be 27 next season. Ridiculous the pace he's at right now.

Also, it's incredible what JJ Watt did this season - 16 sacks coming off of his litany of injuries is nothing short of amazing. If it wasn't for the season from Andrew Luck, Watt would be a shot in for CBPOY.

It was covered during the game on Sunday, but Deshaun Watson is the first QB in NFL history to throw for 4,000/25 and rush for 500/5. One year returned from a torn ACL and Watson is showing elite mobility and adding a unique element to the offense.

Lamar Miller quietly had a solid year, coming up short of the 1,000 barrier by 27 yards (while missing three games). He had the highest YPC during his tenure as a Texan, but his carries have been dropping every year since his first year - this was supposed to be the year D'Onta Foreman took on the load, but that didn't happen (and probably won't happen, to be blunt). It's a very thin RB draft, but the FA market is overflowing with talent (especially if the Jags go full purge and cut Leonard Fournette) so bringing in another body to take carries shouldn't be too hard.
