1963 NFL title went to the Chicago Bears while the AFL to the SD Chargers. Great what if? Had the game been played in sunny warm weather it would have been all Chargers. In the cold N, forget it, all Bears D in a low scoring affair.

There is another book that talks about this potential Super Bowl. It's called The Lost Super Bowls: 1961-65 (A Fictional Scrapbook), and it was written by Tom Danyluk. In the book, the game was played in warm weather, and SD won by a small margin.

SD had Tobin Rote at QB, Keith Lincoln at FB and Lance Alworth at WR. Rote had been the Packers QB pre Lombardi. That talent was lost to the old NFL media. AFL W might as well have been sports Siberia.

Halas knew all about Tobin Rote. Bill Wade, the Bears QB, had spent his best years with the Rams. Doubt that SD had faced a D like Chicago, 9th best in history.
