Kelvin Benjamin was just released (and apparently not for disciplinary reasons or anything like that). Niners sit first on the waiver wire, right? Hope we put a claim in for him. We need a big receiver who has potential.

But he's awful

Alex is having a real rough time with this injury. Apparently now fighting some infections that have come from the multiple surgeries. Looking more and more like this has a real chance to be a career ending injury

Quote

Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith is dealing with an infection caused by complications from multiple surgeries on his broken leg, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini that there is concern that Smith, 34, is dealing with a career-ending injury after breaking the tibia and fibula in his right leg during a Week 11 loss to the Houston Texans.

Smith remains in the hospital, where he has been since suffering the injury Nov. 18, sources told Russini.

Someone needs to photoshop Alex Smith's face onto the front cover of one of the books from "The Series of Unfortunate Events".

That is just a terrible way to end a career filled with nothing but bad luck.

Hes still fairly young as far as QBs go.. hard to believe he was drafted as a 20 year old so long ago. With the new rules, I wouldnt be surprised to see him back down the road.

I think he will end up coaching somewhere.

So at this point, Josh Allen seriously looks like Kaep come again.

Yeah. I severely underestimated his running ability coming out (tbf, it wasn't on tape). Was dead on with his accuracy and processing woes. But being able to run that well gives a lot more cushion on those.

Hard to judge the processing at this point because that offense is just so very bad, but yeah, the accuracy is always going to be spotty. I was really bullish on him after his sophomore year (he made some of the most amazing throws), then completely fell apart in his junior season. If he just got his accuracy in line just a bit, he was going to be okay. Kaep wasn't a great quarterback, but he was often an effective one, and there were times, with the aid of his legs, that he could have great stretches. Very similar with Allen at this point. Newton can also be used as a point of comparison, though Cam is built like an alien superman, because he also struggles with consistent accuracy, but makes some of that up with what he does on the ground.

If Allen can hold up physically, he may not get it done in a pretty manner, and he still needs to improve the passing, but he could absolutely be worth that pick they spent on him.

1 - really shocked by what in the world has happened to the Saints offense. I have no doubt that they turn it back around, but hard to see what they have done the last two weeks and compare it to what we have seen the rest of the season.

2 - We really don't want the Bucs winning games that they shouldn't be :(

Frank Gore today has passed LaDainian Tomlinson on the all-time yards from scrimmage list. He now ranks 5th all-time. Only Marshall Faulk, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, and Jerry Rice remain in front of him. It's hard to see him passing anyone else this year, but he could pass Faulk if he comes back another year.

Really hope someone signs him next year. He's showing that he clearly can still play in this league this year, regardless of his age at this point.
