Is Alvin Kamara the best Running Back in the NFL?

100%.. you would think he was head and shoulders above the cut. But as a HB he isn’t even top 5 in Rushing.

Hes number 9 with 275.. He’s getting super overrated by Saint fans. Zeke, David Johnson, Gurley and Bell are above him as runners.

Hes a special scat back. Just not sure he’s Jamaal Charles as a runner type elite.

Hes a 800/1300 guy. But that’s not an elite RB.

Thats a weapon. No one was calling Jimmy Graham an elite WR when he was with the saints. A great TE yes. But

not an elite WR. And it showed in Seattle and it’s showing in GB. The saints system is tailored fit for certain guys.

Funny...Gurley didn’t look elite until their new system and cosching was put in place. So clearly he is a system player too. ?

Kamara is an unbelievable player in the perfect system for him. The two can co-exist.

Look at Gurleys rookie year. Invalid argument is invalid.

But rookies can’t be elite players. And clearly a bad year 2 reaffirmed that. You have to “establish” yourself...or some BS like that. The arguments against Kamara tend to have points that argue against themselves.

You do know Alvin is on pace for over 1,000 rushing yards?  Humor me for just one minute.  If Alvin gets those extra 200 yards you don't think he's capable of, does he suddenly become an elite RB in your eyes?

The idea that because Alvin is such a great pass catcher out of the backfield that somehow makes him less of a RB is just silly.  Alvin can run between the tackles as good as anyone.  I saw a stat on NFL Network the other day which said that Alvin Kamara is averaging over 5 yards per carry against 8 man boxes.  That was good for 4th in the entire league.  On the long rushing TD that closed the game against the Giants last week, Alvin was running out of the I-formation with a fullback leading the way.

Alvin Kamara is not the scat back you guys are making him out to be.  He could dominate the league just being a traditional I-formation RB if he wanted.  He's just so good as a receiver that you would be silly not to use him there as well.  Especially given how the rules favor passing now in the NFL.

Alvin might be like what Terrell Davis was for Shanahan's Broncos. He was an amazing talent in a system that benefited a few other guys that followed. Like Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns, and Tatum Bell. Those guys put up good numbers too, but Davis was a cut above in the same system. Clinton Portis was the only one from those days to be at the same talent level.

But you're contradicting yourself.. He was never the same back he was in Den as he was in Wash.

So you could say it was the system.. In Denver he was a got damm animal..

But if all of those other guys played in Portis' place when he was in Washington they wouldn't have been as good, because they weren't as talented. When Tatum Bell moved on to Detroit he did nothing. Reuben Droughns had one good year in Cleveland after his stint with Denver, and then did nothing remarkable. Portis was still a Pro Bowl level back with the Redskins for a few years.

There is no contradiction. Denver's system boosted guys' base talent level. It turned average guys into Pro Bowlers, and Pro Bowl guys into All Pros.

Dude had 19 Rushing TDS.

And 5.5 on both his 2 years. Wish he would have stayed in Den. His one cut was vicious. Wash ruined him as a power back.

I don't know this for a fact, but I think if you put Barkley on the Saints he would look just as good.  But then again, I'm probably higher on Barkley's ability than most others.

Really good player. Will probably be the best in the league VERY soon. Not as good as Gurley or Kamara right now. He takes way too many negative plays. Very boom or bust right now.
