Any chance we give Dimitrius Underwood a call and bring him back as a temporary replacement?

I think maybe Keith Millard can still suit up...I think he's had his knees reconstructed...and I don't think the Hardees drive-thru he ran into exists any longer.

It appears that Griffen is dealing with a very serious condition.  I won't speculate on a diagnosis, but the reports of his behavior gives me plenty of reasons to be concerned.  I would echo an earlier post, I don't think it would be good for Griffen or his teammates if the Vikings seriously considered cutting him from the team at this point.  I am pretty sure that there is a category (similar to IR) that he could be designated that allows for him to seek intensive treatment, but not cut off from his professional support system.

The Sack Daddy is my favorite NFL player currently, so this kind of breaks my heart. Not from a football aspect, but from a personal standpoint. I love Big Ev's high motor, tenacity, his motivational spirit, and his outstanding play on the field. It definitely isn't about when/if he can play again, it's about narrowing down what's going on and troubling him, and getting him to a good place for the rest of his life and for his family. I hope the best for Griffen and that he's getting all the help and support he needs to pull through.

Trying to only look at this from a football/business perspective, I would assume the team would look to move him to the NFI list, and possibly look to see if Robison could come back to spell DE. Unfortunately, Odenigbo was waived by the Browns and then claimed in the past 24 hours or so by the Cards, but he would have been someone that I had hoped we could have scooped back up since he looked good in the preseason and is of course familiar with the system.

Good for the team making sure he gets checked out.

I'm pretty much in the dark on the this but any chance he was just in something? That wouldn't make it much but it'd be better than cte

That's not what is being reported. This sounds like he is having some longer term mental health issue. I don't like speculating, but as someone with a bi-polar family member, that's what it sounds like to me.

would Griffen be placed on the commissioners non suspended list like Peterson to free up a roster spot? I can't imagine Griffen will be playing this season based on the reports coming out.

Weatherly and Bower at DE worries me, I don't trust either yet.

I don't think the exempt list is in play here. I would think this would be a clearcut case for Non-Football Injury/Illness list.  The question is would they put him on the active NFI list, or the reserve... if he goes on the reserve list, he's done for the year.  A close comparison might be Aldon Smith - the 49ers placed him on the NFI list for his alcohol treatment.

Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is being treated at a mental health facility, after a series of erratic incidents that had his wife so concerned she called police. According to Paul Walsh of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Griffin was taken in after his wife called police from their home as well as the home of a teammate nearby.

If I'm understanding things correctly here is a timeline of events?

Last Thursday team says that Griffen is not allowed back to the team until he goes under a mental evaluation.

Saturday the event(s) at the Ivy Hotel transpire.

Later Saturday (?) Griffen is being evaluated at Minneapolis-area hospital.

According to a Minnetrista police report, Everson Griffen jumped out of the ambulance he was in headed to a hospital "because he was in fear that someone was going to shoot him." Police then escorted the ambulance and took him to the hospital where he remains.
