Sarcasm? Verrett is an IR machine and Alexander is a tackle-missing machine. And the Ford trade is like...how is he better than taking Bosa? Now they'll pass on Bosa because they didn't trade for Ford for him to be a backup Leo.

They won't pass on bosa unless it's for Williams, which is fine

Upgrades are upgrades, it's FA you're gonna be competing with other teams for the same players. Alexander is only 24 with really good run stop numbers. Verrett has incredible potential to be a #1 shutdown corner, injury concerns aside. Ford was the #1 rated pass rusher last season and #1 in QB pressures that season. Who said it's better? There's two sides to the D-line, I'm more than fine with taking Bosa too.

No, they're going to pass on Bosa because he's not a 5 technique. That's Armstead's role.

Alexander missed the most tackles in the NFL over the last few years and it wasn't even close.

The 49ers will be trading down from 2 and taking an OT to replace Staley.

First off, Armstead doesn't actually have an assigned role. He can line up from anywhere from 5 tech to 1 tech and has done it all. He's basically a jack of all on the line. So there's that. Secondarily, Bosa is going to be fine as 5 tech, even if initially that's largely as a pass rushing specialist.

The missed tackles have been addressed in other threads (most notably, the thread on Kwon), so I won't rehash there. We will see what happens there and if some of the film study hypothesis by guys like Ian Williams is correct. It's possible it is and isn't.

I wouldn't mind a trade down, but somehow I doubt it's going to be for an OT lol. I feel like if they wanted to move out of #2, then OBJ would be on this team.

The 49ers never had any interest whatsoever in OBJ. Get real. You think John "after getting burned on Reuben, we're going to go for only the most milquetoast 'class' guys we can find' Lynch was going to go for OBJ? They had no interest in Antonio Brown either.

Saleh starts Armstead at 5 technique in base because he views it as a DT run defense-type position. That's not Bosa.

Lynch doesn't do flashy stuff, and neither does Kyle. Lynch wants milquetoast and Kyle wants a bunch of interchangeable little guys at RB and WR. The moves the last 3 years speak for themselves. So Lynch's draft pick will be predictably boring, like it was last year. Even if Roquan Smith had fallen to 9, the 49ers were taking McGlinchey.
