Sherman has been wooing him lol.

I think that we have a good shot, particularly if we are willing to do 4/60 deal,

Fine by me, but I'd sure love some sort of injury protection for us.. games started incentives or whatever they can conjure.

I'm not sure how I feel about his injury history. It's weird because he's been hurt the last two years, but neither was a soft tissue injury...they were both broken legs. Just weird. I mean, are his legs honestly that brittle, or was it just freakish bad luck? His recent plague of injuries is really peculiar.

Tartt should prepare himself by changing his number.

So, what is the deal in everyone's mind? Ward gone. Who are your starters at both FS and SS as of right now.. current options. ?

See, I was thinking right now, Colbert as FS and Harris as SS... but easily conceivable that I wasn't paying close enough attention.

Right now it has to be Tartt as SS and Colbert at FS in my eyes with Harris backing up SS.

It seems fair to me, this day and age, that players accept a contract which actually implies availability.

We all know ET can and would play at a high level for us. So pay him for that.. but if he broken? well c'mon... get your own damn insurance policy!

Agreed. Though if we go into next season with Colbert as a starter at free safety, complete fail on the part of this FO. But yeah, as it stands, this is what it is.

Idk I've never been a fan of Colbert at FS. I mean he can cover ground but he's never been a play maker on the ball. I view all three as SS.

Honestly I'd go Tartt@FS and Harris@SS. Colbert was just so God-awful last year, it ruined all the equity he had built up from his impressive rookie year. I thought Harris played ok for a rookie, coming off a Achilles tear. I could see him making a big leap in his second year. I just trust Tartt more than I do Colbert at this point.

Yeah agree altough it will depend on if we are able to sign a guy like Thomas or Joyner. I don't want to add someone just to add someone and if we add JAG i can see Colbert being the starter next year if he worked on his main problems.

Colbert to me is a FS because of the amount of ground he can cover. He needs to get better in the mental part of game and reading offenses and making the right decisions.

I don't think Tartt has the ability to play FS in this scheme. If we would still be running the Vic Fangio type of defense i would put him there no problem but in this scheme he has already shown he doesn't have the range to play FS. Colbert was awfull last year and make a lot of mental mistakes but physically he has all the tools to play FS for us. I hope he has grown on the mental side and give a shot before moving Tartt to FS. If we had a game tomorrow and everyone was healthy i could see going for Tartt-Harris but going into training camp i think i would give Colbert first shot at it.

Would rather jpp if we are going this route

Trading for a pass rusher just doesn't seem like the best decision with our assets. With so many pass rushers available in the draft and through FA, why would we trade away picks to acquire one? Is Vernon really a bigger get than anything thing else we can get without trading picks away? I'm all for double-dipping in the draft or a draft one/sign one combo.

Edit: I quoted the wrong post, whoops..

I actually see Vernon and Houston just getting cut as I don’t see any teams offering draft picks for players on rich contracts who haven’t lived up to expectations and/or are declining. Especially with players who are younger who will be available one FA such as Preston Smith, ZaDarius Smith, Shaq Barrett among others.

If they are released however I wouldn’t mind going after one and having him be our vet addition while I also adding another throug draft. Would like to see three edge players brought in but if we get two I’ll be happy I guess.

4 years 60 million with like 35M guaranteed or something like that is a fair deal IMO.

Either way, more than any WR, this would be our biggest FA addition since it is highly unlikely we end up with someone like Lawrence or any of the younger top DEs.

A really smart guy I know said 4 year 60M with 24M guaranteed. But do the 35M if it gets it done.
