So now this thread is in an alternate reality where you said there was 1 post about Brady and I pointed out another 1 and you think it is irrelevant because you are the arbiter of this reality.

I am trying to keep up with your rules here, but you are all over the place.

Nevermind........

Brees is one of the top 10 QBs of all time and anyone who doesn't vote him in on first ballot should lose their vote.

He's also got 29 TDs to 9 picks in the playoffs with a 100+ rating.

It does not mean you should pretend he is better than what he is.

You are being dishonest if you don't acknowledge that the dome, Sean Payton, very good multi-purpose backs, and the same system for 13 years has not helped him greatly.

He has also had a bunch of fast and talented WRs while in New Orleans.

He was not a special QB in 5 years at San Diego (although you could see it in 2004)

Seriously?  Name the fast/talented WRs that Brees has had in his career in New Orleans.  Dude has had less talented receiving talent than any of the top QBs in the NFL.  Peyton Manning has consistently had numerous 1st round talent WRs, Tom Brady had higher rated players coming out as well as though that were given accolades than Saints WRs, same with Aaron Rodgers.  the only 3 WRs that Drew Brees played with that had any significant buzz, that was actually backed up with stats, were Marques Colston (questionable as he was considered average by most and I dont' think ever made a Pro Bowl but coudl be wron, Michael Thomas, and Jimmy Graham (after most considered him a project after only 1 year of college FB, then dominated the NFL before disappearing in Seattle and Green Bay).

Without over-thinking it, I would probably agree with this. I think most will look at him in the same way as Dan Marino.

Better playoff numbers and he has a ring, so I put him ahead of Marino.

He cements top 5 with another Super Bowl ring.

I don't really see much difference between him and Rodgers.

Great stats, lots of winning seasons, and a SB MVP.

Rodgers is the TD - INT specialist and Brees is the 5k a season guy.

Its all impressive.

The thing about Marino is that he really had 3 careers.

  • Great Marino only last about 4 or 5 years. (1984 will always be amazing)
  • He was just very good for most of the rest of his career.
  • The other career is his disappointing playoffs.
    • He was 1-4 in the playoffs against his own division
    • Playing a very poor Super Bowl against Montana
    • Losing to the Patriots just short of rematch after beating the '85 Bears on MNF
    • Going out 62-7

You can't really ever enjoy a wonderful sporting event without having to lie to yourself on a message board about it being greater than it was!

How dare people stop you by disagreeing with you on the internet... on your internet!

You do know there is a Saints specific section around here somewhere, right?

Hahahaha yes! This is fricken comedy gold. Keep up the good work! Maybe tell me more about Tom Brady though in this thread titled "Drew Brees- New All Time Passing Yardage Leader".

Obviously this is the place to talk about Tom Brady not in a Patriots "specific section around here somewhere, right?"

How dare people applaud Drew Brees for an incredible achievement..."On the internet...  On your internet!"

See, I personally don't like comparing new era QB's to previous ones(or any player for that matter) and I feel that they should all be kept in their own lane in order to help compensate for the changes to the game.  Marino played in era where you had 5 division rivals and not only 4. So let's not ignore the huge difference this makes either.

The Brees vs Rodgers comparison is little weird to me because, personally, I have never thought that Brees was better than Rodgers, IMO. Not to take anything away from Brees because Rodgers is obviously on of the best ever.

I've been on record saying this numerous times - Drew Brees is definitely a top five QB of all time.  Great to see him break the record tonight in style.

I like the fact everyone wrote him off and his team drafted his replacement. Then he brings home a trophy and HOF career. He is definitely underrated

I watched him during his time in San Diego.  Brees was actually bad/mediocre during the beginning of his stint with the Chargers - that's what caused the team to draft a QB that high.  After they drafted Rivers, Brees started to become pretty good and the rest is history.

On a serious note, is he though? Like I have a hard time putting him ahead of Brady, Montana, Manning, Marino, Unitas and I really think Rodgers passes him when all is said and done. Could easily see the argument for guys like Staubach as well

Brady, Manning, Montana, Brees, Rodgers.

In no order.  That's my top 5.
