Under center

First downs

1- run no gain

1- 5 yard run

1- 32 yards off play action

1- run for 0 yard

1- 14 yard run

1- 4 yard run

1- 9 yard run

1- int off drop by WR should have been 15 yard gain*

1- 9 yard pass

1- run for -1

1- 1 yard run

1- 8 yard pass

1- 12 yard run

1- 44 yard pass of pass action

1- 4 yard loss when Dak messed up handoff***

1- 2 yard run

1- 1 run yard loss

1- 11 yard reception

1- 1 yard run

Rushing:  14 for 43 or 3.1 YPC

It’s worth noting that if we take out the last 4 runs, rbs would have been 10 for 45 yards or 4.5 YPC.  Running the got ugly after the holding penalty that took back what would have been a 16 yard gain.  The worst part is I didn’t see a hold on the play... just a good pancake block.

Passing: 5/6 for 104 yards and 1 INT  or 17 YPA.  The crazy thing is that the INT was freaky off a drop that should have been a 15 yard gain.  Yes, the pass was high but it wasn’t a hard catch.  Austin had a horrible night.   First down passing from under center was huge all night.  It literally worked every time we threw on 1st down.

Second Down

2- 42 yard pass off play action

2- 2 yard run

2- 4 yard run for first down

2- -1 yard run

2- 3 yard TD pass great example of how being under helped freeze defense

2- pass for no gain

2- 9 yard sack

Rushing- 3 for 7 yards or 2.3 ypc

Passing- 3 for 3 for 45 yards and a TD with a 9 yard sack.  That’s 15 YPA

conclusion:  Check out the passing from under center... 8/9 for 149 yards, 1 INT* and 1 TD.  The one incompletion/INT was a drop.  Passing from under center with the defense being forced to respect the run game was AGAIN extremely productive on a night where Dak was less than productive.  Rushing had its moments but a bogus holding penalty seemed derail what could have been a bright spot.

Shotgun

First Down

1st- 2 yard run

1- 6 yard qb run

1- in complete pass should have been sack

1- incomplete pass dropped by Austin*

1- 1 yard gain

1- incomplete pass

Rushing: 3 for 8 yards or 2.7 YPC

Passing:  0/3 for 0 yards and 1 drop

Second Down

2- incomplete pass not close

2- 5 yard pass

2- run for -1 yards

2- in complete pass

2- 9 yard qb run

2- 5 yard run
2- 5 yard run

2- 11 yard qb run

2- incomplete pass

2- incomplete Hail Mary

2- 9 yard pass

2- 8 yard pass

Rushing: 5 for 29 for 6 YPC.  Dak ran 2 times for 20 yards.  RBs were 3 for 9 yards.

Passin: 3/7 for 22 yards or 3 YPA

Conclusion:  passing from shotgun on first and second down was utterly worthless, a waste of a down and brought us one step closer to defeat every time we tried it.  The final numbers on passing from shotgun on first or second down were 3 for 10 for 22 yards or 2.2 YPA.  Now, compare that to passing from under center, 8/9 for 149 yards with a TD and an int which was a dropped 15 yard completion.

For or those who missed it, here was the conclusion from last week...

If you combine first and second down under center, Dak was 7 for 7 for 112 yards ( 16 YPA) and 2 TDs. Out of shotgun on first and second down Dak was 6 for 13 for 98 yards (7.5 YPA) and 0 TDs.

Think about this, over the past two weeks the cowboys are 15/16 for 261 yards and 3 TDS when passing from under center.  Conversely, the cowboys are 9/23 for 130 yards and 0 TDS when passing from shotgun on first and second down.

When will JG and SL learn?

This is no longer a question.  The conclusion is they have not or won't learn.  More reason for both to be dismissed.
