Is it too early to focus on the 19 draft?

Because they aren't showing up. And he's been hemmorhaging ticket buyers for 10 years. The fans have finally had it and are letting him know by not buying tickets. Remember, stadium revenue from ticket sales and concessions are not shared. Yes, he gets the big fat check from the NFL for the TV deal. And yes, it's the lion's share of the revenue. But that is shared. He doesn't have to share this.

Now couple that with the fact that every millionaire/billionaire has a massive ego. And this is a slap in the face to him when fans don't show up. And as fans stop showing up, guess what happens to the willingness of politicians to play ball on a stadium deal? That goes away.

So yeah, he should absolutely care about fans not showing up.

BTW - I understand your point about just focusing on getting better and the fans will come. I agree with your overall point. I just think that the statement in bold was something that I needed to discuss.

I get it but I was at that stadium twice last year and it was pitiful. There ain't no way there was a worse home field advantage than what this team had. Week 2 after stomping the Cardinals there was literally nobody there for the opener. That's just not something for him or anyone to get excited about. The outlook on this team is always pessimistic by most of the fan base. There are quite a few franchises that stink as bad or worse than ours and I guarantee you they still show up for their squad more than ours. Its just sad for me, I don't agree with what they do all the time but I live and breathe through this team. Just going to be all the sweeter when they finally break through

The league is moving more to a passing league. Why not put the guy who is going to be more valuable as a pass defender on the field?

I'm with @Thaiphoon with this; I think you can teach him run defense and get him to play at a higher weight.

All of this is of course hypothetical because he hasn't been drafted yet.

The league as a whole is definately trending towards passing but our division has the Cowboys who are run heavy, the Eagles who led the league in rushing a season ago and the Giants who have no choice but to run. Maybe the organization has a plan (I know them having a plan is a stretch) to rotate Anderson and a situational guy that they’ll grab next week.

If we stay at pick 15 and QBs are off the board I would love to get Devin Bush. Both pass rushers that would be available for us have question marks. Burns ability to hold up against the run and Ferrell with scheme fit. Bush is a sideline to sideline linebacker, if Foster stays clear of trouble you would have the makings of a nasty defense

If your not worried that your Fans aren't showing up to games than you don't need to be in charge. Second if your way of getting your Fans in the seats is just by getting a QB or high profile players I think thats a problem as well. Winning would put fans in the seats regardless. If winning isn't the focus you have a problem and until Fans consistently make that a point, you will have them possibly making moves like maybe trading up for high profile QB or overpaying for Rosen. Both I hope they don't do. To trade a 2nd for Rosen if Arizona drafts Murray is overpaying IMO.

Of those players listed, the only ones I can see being options at 15 are:

WR AJ Brown

OL Andre Dillard

OL Cody Ford

QB Dwayne Haskins

QB Daniel Jones

OL Chris Lindstrom

QB Drew Lock

WR DK Metcalf

QB Kyler Murray *its since been reported that he cancelled his visit with us.

OL Dalton Risner

OL Jawaan Taylor

So obviously the QB names stand out, but there are a lot of Olineman on that list we've met with that likely won't be available with our 2nd round pick.  Most of the WRs named will likely go in the 2nd.

@MikeT14, does Walterfootball have historic team prospect visits?  I would be curious if they met with Payne or Allen before they drafted them.

They did. They had Payne and Guice in just about the same time last year as they didn’t Campbell and Grier this week. They did something similar I think in the Schreff draft. They had crowded and Schreff in the week before but those two weren’t together like last year Guice and Payne.

So if you want to go off of the visits, if we traded for Josh Rosen I think its very likely we draft a LG at 15, which I wouldn't really be thrilled about but meh.

If they aren’t on the year where they play people!!! 2016 is a outlier year for me because they never even met with Doc!!!! As Mike posted I think Daniel was the only visit that year we selected. But that was the only year this team hasn’t gone trenches high since the Schreff draft. So is this the year they go off Kilter or is this the there’s reports reports reports like years past but our targets were pretty clear. If we go off visits I believe Grier is our guy. He’s visited the most with Haskins right behind him. Then WR I see them doing work but I think they want to trade down I could see our combo of top selections being Grier and Campbell. I’m very okay with that!!! Especially trading back with already 2 3rds and whatever from moving back from 15 to get Grier and Campbell I’d be excited about what we can add outside of that

To add to my last post!!! Basically I like Grier more then most. I’m a trade back I like the pieces I imagine available and the possible Haul moreso then I do in a scenario of trading a second for Rosen and the haul around that outside of staying pat and getting a defender. Because outside of that I believe we’re reaching unless a player falls. Then if you select Haskins at 15 I almost feel like the value of that selection isn’t maxed out by a small margin that is, but not maxed out. Then your with the same amount of picks so did we get so much more value from Haskins or Rosen as we do getting more picks and getting Grier and a top of the list WR where the value of the selection is higher moving back in the later first frame and adding more picks and still having multiples in the third. I think that’s the best value for the area of focus this staff has put in. I’m not saying I wouldn’t draft 9 defenders if the picks were mine. But what I think we do and trying to maximize that scenario of focus and what I’d do are two different things lol
