I'm not against a season 2, but we'd need a different location / family IMO. TBH I'd prefer this to be a stand-alone show, but I'd understand if Netflix tried to milk this. Season 2 is to be set in Bly Manor. If any of you have seen The Innocents, it will be based on the same source material; The Turn of the Screw. What I will say, though, is that as far as I’ve ever been concerned with this, the story of the Crain family is told. It’s done. I think that there are all sorts of different directions we could go in, with the house or with something completely different. I love the idea of an anthology as well. But to me, I felt like the Crains have been through enough, and we left them exactly as we all wanted to remember them, those of us who worked on it. We toyed with a cliffhanger ending and we toyed with other ideas, but ultimately, in the writers’ room and with the cast and everything else, we really felt like the story demanded a certain kind of closure from us and we were happy to close the book on that family. That was from October. This is the right decision imo. The Crane’s story felt like it came to a conclusion. It also felt like the history of the house, while there’s certainly more that could be explored with the Hill family, was adequately told. I think it would be extremely hard to capture the same charm and depth that made Hill House what it was if they just tried to tack more on Hill House. This gives them a whole new new source to build a history from and new themes to work on. Plus if the new season sucks, we’ll all still be able to remember Hill House as a complete masterpiece.
