Heard something kinda interesting. Is a team truly better off being well rounded vs. completely dominant on one side of the ball and just okay on the other. I ask because of teams like the Rams and Chiefs.

I hate using the Patriots as any kind of standard because it’s like saying a team should be similar to the 90’s Chicago Bulls.

I'd rather have a top 5 offense and bottom 5 defense than the 16th best of both. I'd rather have the 16th best of both than be a bottom 5 offense no matter where the defense ranked.

Now if we're talking top 10 offense and defense vs. #1 offense and a poor defense I'd probably go with the balance for the long term but if you have an elite QB vs. a top 12 QB on the balanced team I'd probably take my chances of building around the elite QB.

Historically its better to be extremely good at one area. From a team based perspective we should look DL/pass rush.

Having a great QB like Baker means we should have a top notch passing attack locked down. After that find a unit to make dominant on defense.

I think this is a misconception.  Championship teams that are thought to be dominant on one side and mediocre on the other side are really not.  The weaker side is just overshadowed by the dominant side.  Like the greatest ahow on turf rams.  I think that d was under rated.  It could have done more had the offense not been unstoppable.

similarly the trent dilfer ravens team. I think the offense could have done more, but it didnt have to.  Feed lewis and let the d destroy the other offense and sufficate the other team literally.

Can’t wait to get screwed at the end of a game on a Hail Mary that gets overturned to a PI

That’s another thing about PI which needs changed. It needs to just be 15 yards. Offenses already have a ton of advantages.

They also need to follow the rule. "It is pass interference by either team when any act by a player more than one yard beyond the line of scrimmage significantly hinders an eligible player’s opportunity to catch the ball. " They forgot about the "significantly" part. A little hand fighting isn't DPI unless an arm is grabbed as the reception is being attempted and that is usually when they let them get away with it. Grabbing it and letting go a second before the ball gets there is always called even if the receiver is still in position to make a catch.

If it is deemed intentional, make it a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and a spot foul.

I'm not sure what to think about the change.  It could be Pandora's box getting opened.

It’s going to benefit us. How many times have we been robbed because of a BS OPI called on us? This new rule will encourage better route running from WRs and better technique from CBs instead of just mauling guys. This is really going to suck for guys like Mike Evans, Deandre Hopkins, and Michael Thomas. However, it will be perfect for a guy like OBJ who has a more finesse game.

It’s going to be impossible to call PI well enough for everyone, it’s too subjective.

I do believe though it’s similar to the old line of “it’s hard to describe but you know it when you see it”.

It can’t be any worse than it is now though.  It’s not like this is going to add MORE egregious missed calls or overturn blatant PI’s.

More specifically the Supreme Courts definition of pornography. I’m serious.
