Extend Mike McCarthy?

I just get really sick of people acting like the offense is poorly designed and that's why we suck on offense.  The NFL is over 100 years old.  Passing in the game is over 100 years old.  There aren't one billion possible route combinations here.  It's not like The Waterboy where you draw up ingenious new plays that have never been seen before.  This is the NFL.  Rodgers has a big part to play in the lack of offensive production.  He doesn't sit at home each week playing Madden and creating new plays out of anger towards McCarthy, he is involved in the offensive gameplan.  A very high number of plays where Rodgers takes a sack or throws it away, somebody is open, and he chooses not to throw there.

Everybody says McVay, McVay and blah blah blah, but Andy Reid hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire with new and creative plays.  He's got an elite tight end, an elite running back, an elite receiver and another receiver who can take the top of the defense, and Mahomes throws to them.  McVay has a damn fine trio of receivers, too, not to mention the best running back in football.

We've got a running back who can't block, and who Rodgers won't throw to.  You think it might be a little easier to defend one receiver, a good tight end Rodgers doesn't throw to, an old Randall Cobb and a bunch of rookies Rodgers won't throw to?

You go firing Mike McCarthy and next thing you know you've hired the next Matt Patricia or Josh McDaniels who will gut your team to create it in his image, which doesn't work.  THEN you've wasted Aaron's time.

There's also the hyopcrisy in calling out Ted Thompson AND the head coach.  Really can't have it both ways.  If Thompson was terrible at providing talent for this team and McCarthy made the playoffs in all but one year, how are you blaming McCarthy?

The writing was on the wall last offseason when the organization gave MM a measly 1 year contract extension.

Not making the playoffs with the highest-paid player in then NFL at QB, doesn't exactly make the hot seat any cooler.

Poor Mike is going to get absolutely lambasted nationally tomorrow.

Horrible coach.  Horrible.  Only sensitive GB fans disagree.   Current and former players seem to think that he is making a living off of the best QB ever.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how attractive is the Green Bay job? 7?

Looking at the potential openings, I'm not sure there's a more attractive spot.  Vance Joseph is a dead man walking.  Unless Tampa Bay turns it around, Dirk Koetter probably gets axed.  John Harbaugh is apparently on the hotseat.  And then there's the surprise fire.  Green Bay has one thing the rest can't offer.  Aaron Rodgers.
