Fureys49ers
Two guys I like a lot as mid to late round 3 down RBs are LJ Scott and Alexander Mattison. What’s your guys’ take?

What’s your guys’ take? Scott I liked more than I thought I would after watching him. He's pretty quick for a bigger guy but he's definitely relatively upright and slow. I think the best comp I could think of for him is Josh Adams--who played a lot better for Philly than I thought he would based on his college performance. I don't think he'll amount to very much, but he won't be bagging groceries next year either. He lumbers in the open field. He does have good hands and feet, but I don't like his other traits. I think it would do him a great service to go the obvious being from the same school route of Bell, shed some pounds and improve his quickness and suddenness in doing so. He has the patience, physicality, hands and north south running style to be effective though I believe. I think Mattison gets overlooked for what he has done while Boise St. over his career and all that was asked of him. Dude didn't come off the field, runs well, catches well and can block. Both backs in the right situation, as much as that is a blanket statement, I think could surprise people.
Chiefer
Watched some David Montgomery tape and he looked like Kareem Hunt. Fair assessment?

Depends on what tape you were watching. (Couldn't resist...but yes, fair comp, unclear though if he has similar receiving skills) Edited January 7, 2019 by Broncofan

Montgomery is arguably quicker than Hunt in terms of being able to make you miss in a small space but might not have the top end speed, will see. But unless Joshua Jacobs comes out for the draft, right now David Montgomery is the best all around back in the draft in terms of doing a variety of things well, pass catching, running inbetween the tackles, outside the tackles and pass protection. Is a very stable back and could be a late 1st but more likely a 2nd round pick.

That's currently the de facto comp. I think Montgomery is noticeably quicker but Hunt has more burst--both have great contact balance. Otherwise, they're pretty close. Pretty similar as prospects but I think Hunt revealed more power and burst as a pro than he showed at Toledo. He was literally a homerun threat on every snap as a rookie and blasted through tackles. I like Montgomery's burst but not sure how much power he has. Edited January 8, 2019 by BrownLeader

True. Hunt at Toledo was much heavier--day boy was thicky thick. He slimmed down from like 225-230 to 210.
Forge
Bryce Love apparently tore his acl in Stanford's final game.

He's certainly fast, but he's not elite NFL fast. He is, however, underrated as an interior runner. He runs hard between the tackles and has excellent vision. He's going to be good, but not great. I was never overly impressed with him and was roasted for this opinion before the season started. Especially the "average speed" take. I didn't see a lot of him this year, but on what I saw I'd disagree. No he's not a pure blazer maybe, but he can turn on the jets and has that burst. He seems to me to have it all, though not amazing in any one way. Also maybe I missed it but why is no one talking about Sanders (Penn St) or Taylor (Wis)? Did they say they're returning to school next year or something?

Fureys49ers
Sanders declared though, I think can be a sleeper for sure as I think he has the skill set to do well on all 3 downs
