Luck comeback player of the year?

Off the top of my head, yeah, he’s the front runner as of now. His main competition will be if Rodgers or Wentz can rally a little bit to get their team to the playoffs.

I’d like to see Luck with some quality team mates.

JJ Watt? Had the sack lead going into today.

On a pure football level yeah they're pretty close but Luck is a quarterback who is currently leading the league in touchdown passes. There's no way they give it to a defensive player should both players keep up their current level.

But Watt is also leading in forced fumbles, he's top 10 in TFLs, and his team is currently leading the AFCS.

It's close, both are 1a and 1b, but Watt is currently in the lead.

That's fair, I personally don't see a defensive player winning the award when a quarterback is having such a good year as well. If Watt were to win the hypothetical 7 week CPOTY award I certainly wouldn't complain.

This thread should bring the Luck haters out in force!  Its quite obvious at this point that Luck is still no where near 100% with his shoulder (bringing in Brissett to throw the hail Mary a few weeks ago cemented that for me) so I think its ever more incredible what he is doing stats-wise this season, especially with the complete lack of surrounding talent on that team.

Watt also has been dominant again this year (which is great for the NFL) and if he gets near the 20-sack mark again, might go down as the greatest pass rusher in history (won't catch Bruce Smith's career sack record, but three 20-sack seasons in a career is hard to ignore).  Its a real shame about both of these guys and all the games they had to miss due to injury...

it would also be good for these 2 if they were on a championship team. I don't see that happening right now in 2018 though.

Watt at least has a chance.  The Texans still have a lot of talent and if Watson can recapture his play from last year I still believe they are a serious contender in the AFC (a big "if" though because Watson hasn't looked great since the ACL).  Luck, however, has no shot this year or anytime in the immediate future on that Colts team.  They desperately need a couple of HR-drafts to get some talent on that team before they'll ever have a shot, even with a 100% performing Luck at QB.
