Week 8 GDT: Houston vs Miami

NFL fired Hugo Cruz for some missed false start calls this week.  NFLRA can suck it, as they are ruining yet another prime time game with nonsensical calls that fail any smell test. Ref Shawn Smith needs to be gone or demoted tomorrow, even if he pulls an Angel Hernandez and blames his making this game about the refs and not the plays and sues for discrimination if disciplined.  Dude is a rookie ref in only his 4th overall year overstepping about 50 officials with a decade or more as experienced umpires,  back judges, etc.  Draw your own conclusions on why he jumped over (he's the least experienced on his own crew by a mile), but this dude is clearly completely unqualified and a complete embarassment on a national TV game - maybe he'll sue like Angel Hernandez.  Beyond the horrible calls, this fool has absolutely no clue about game flow and he absolutely HAS to overrule on that Hopkins catch which will now be relegated to the cutting room floor as plays on penalties never make highlight packages.  NFL is supposed to be erring on the side of offense and scoring with officiating, yet we've seen points come off the board all night on phantom calls.  BTW - Aikman blew it off, but the illegal man downfield call was absurd as well - absolutely nothing there as they barely strayed 3 yards off their line (5 yards is penalty) and were completely uninvolved in the action which is usually ignored.

Dolphins are bailing them out with horrific defense, but just an abysmal performance by the zebras.

Side note - Greg Mancz needs to stay in this lineup when Fulton is healthy.  Fulton is a good pass protector, but a miserable run blocker.  Mancz may not be the best pass protector in the world, but he's not XSF whiff bad and the difference he has made in this inside run game the past 2 weeks can't be ignored.  I reserve the right to complain about giving up sacks up the middle, but that hasn't been our issue and being able to run keeps us out of 3rd and long which has been the killer.  Remember, Fulton lost his starting gig in KC too, he just has starts as an injury replacement since his rookie year so it's not like he's some entrenched starter.  Mix-match until you find something that works and I think we're nuts if we mess with this right now.

BTW - Having Thomas in their blocking instead of useless Ryan Griffin also can't be ignored along with him actually getting separation and converting red zone opportunities.

Can we petition to move the bye week up?  BTW - I'm telling you there is something wrong with this NRG turf.  The concussions were absurd at home last year with every head hitting turf causing brain damage and hitting you knee on the turf should not hurt like that.  It's like we're at the old Veterans Stadium in Philly with its quarter inch of padding between turf/cement.
