I was about 2 miles from the Pentagon when flight 77 hit it and outside on a smoke break with some guys. Loudest explosion I ever heard in my life. Spent the next 4 days stranded in northern VA. No ground or air traffic except for the occasional roar of an F-16 on patrol. For all practical purposes quarantined in my hotel room watching the whole thing unfold on TV. Ive been unfortunate enough to deal with plenty of folks lying in a hospital bed looking for help.
