(without a 125+million QB)

Maybe this is where I differ too.  That 125 million doesn't really matter anymore when all the other big contracts are either gone or going away.  Unless we start paying top money at multiple positions, Carr's contract is not a concern for really the rest of his deal.  His contract is probably average or will be by this time next year anyway, 20 mil per year is not what it once was at the QB position. With every new contract signed he falls further and further from the top paid at the position.

On the flip side this also makes a QB on his rookie deal that much more valuable.  With QB contracts heading in the $30+ million a year range a coach that can use a system QB may become highly valued the same way ZBS coaches did.  This is just a what if but if Gruden is capable of winning with a $10-15 million a year QB then his contract is nothing because we do not need to spend $25 million on a QB.  Imagine BBs value if he is able to continue winning with a 5th round QB after Brady leaves.  You may see him get a $20 million/yr contract and it would be worth it.  Carr maybe scared to get hurt because if AJ comes in and performs well there is no way we keep Carr next year.

If we gave up on Carr for Teddy I'd stop watching tbh

TeddyB might actually fit what Gruden wants in a QB more than Carr. Decently athletic QB who doesn't have the biggest arm, but is very good in the short to intermediate game. Game manager,  won't turn the ball over and lose you games like Carr has done a couple times this year. Cerebral type.

Game manager ≠ cerebral, but alright

For real. Where are people getting this? A game manager isnt what Gruden's offense requires. Short and intermediate accuracy, extremely high intelligence, and superb pocket presence is what he wants. Short area athleticism is a plus.

Game manager is someone who just takes what theyre given and limits mistakes ala Case Keenum

Cerebral is someone who picks a defense apart by being smarter than the opposing team ala Brady.

We're not winning anything period for the next couple of years no matter who the QB, that much is clear.

Rather not win **** with a game manager who might be more of a system fit, rather than a timid skittish crying 25 mill per QB who is regressing and destroying any kind of trade value he might have had.

With all due respect, your qb evaluation is shallow garbage. And his 20 million avg over the next 3-4 years is 16th in the league...

And you're a Carr apologist who is still hanging on to two years ago. Wake up, smell the coffee, and realize the dude might not even be a top 20 QB in the league anymore.

Exactly. Would rather be called a “Gruden Apologist” because I see the big picture instead of all these sensitive Carr apologists. Emotional attachment to players instead of seeing reality. We weren’t winning with Carr, Mack, Cooper with three failed drafts, not to mention Carr and Cooper have shown this year and last year they are probably not the answer.

Cooper + Carr is not good but one or both might play better apart from each other.
