Yeah the idea of cutting talent to save cap space for no reason has to die.

Tretter is a competent player who’s signed for one more year.  Roll with him as a backup and he’ll come off the cap well before that space is needed.

exactly.

Collins is a little different, he saves us 9 million, and we owe 2.5 then 1.25 million. If he isn't cut this year he is cut next year, no one will trade for him, they would have to pay him 9 million and then more the year after. If you think you can do soemthing better with 9 million this off season, then make your move.

You can't do better for depth with the oline than what tretter offers at a low cap number.

I can’t decide who Chubbs reminds me of most. Three guys come to mind for me but hes kinda of a mash up of the three and doesn’t really directly compare to one.

Shaun Alexander,Jamal Lewis, and Frank Gore. All come to mind when watching him play

Yep, I have stated that he reminds me a bit of Jamal Lewis.

The big thing about Chubb is that he is the perfect mix of strength, agility, and vision. He is not a guy that just barrels straight and prays for a hole. Chubb reacts incredibly quickly if the hole moves, which means he can pickup more yards per play compared to a guy like Fournette - who is obviously really good, but mainly because he just barrels forward and is strong as an ox.

By stats that control for the strength of the offensive line - yards after first contact, broken tackles, elusive rating, and 10+ yard play percentage - Chubb has been the best runningback in the NFL. I do not think he is... but, he absolutely has the potential to become the best RB in the NFL.

Vision is actually his biggest weakness as a runner to me. He is not terrible but he is not good either. Once he gets to the second level he has very good vision, knows how to set up his blockers, and has a natural ability to reduce angles. At the initial set up of the blocking scheme though he has left numerous yards on the field especially in the Kansas City game. He is young and it has been a long known fact that young backs struggle with patience and understanding of where things will open up. It is a very exciting thing for us IMO that Chubb is producing like he is right now despite leaving yards on the field at this stage in his career.

TBH, I have to confess, I don't agree with the Jamal Lewis reference that has been thrown around, Lewis had a really distinctive short choppy running style, Chubb is a long strider. I'll come up with my comp in a second

I am moving on from Lewis as well, Lewis was a fast nugget. I dont think he had the balance that chubb has.

@Mind Character brings up an excellent point with Albert OK from Mizzou. We haven't really discussed the TE class much in this forum, but the upcoming class is absolutely LOADED with potentially great TE's. Off the top of my head, I can think of 8 guys who could easily go off the board in the first 2 rounds when it's all said and done.

That’s all I’ve done is talk about TEs.

I’m pretty much obsessed with 3 of them this year.

Fant

Ok

IRV SMITH JR!!!

I wanted Gossett last year to replace DeValve and I want one of these 3 to replace him next year if he can’t get on the field at all.

I really like TJ Hockenson as well. But there's also Kaden Smith, Jace Sternberger, Dawson Knox and Caleb Wilson. I could see any of these guys emerging as TE1 come draft day. Although, I think the ones you listed are probably the most likely to accomplish that feat. Even so, this class is so deep, you could probably walk away with a TE in round 3 who could go round 1 or 2 in other drafts.

Dude is really smooth, athletic and has really good hands, there are is a little Travis Kelce to his game.

I’d pay top dollar for Frank Clark opposite of Garrett

Straight monster, and if you really pay attention to his game, he anticipated a lot of plays before they even happened based off of formation and motion. I would make him priority #1 for our offseason
