No doubt, he had a hor peak, I think chubb is a better player overall and could have abetted longer peak. If he stays healthy next year he could eclipse 1600 yards. Kiwibrown
As it pertains to football a lot of our picks have very high football character. Ward, Baker, chubb, Avery. So it seems Dorsey prefers guys with high football character, but is willing to ro the dice on dodgy guys if they work hard and are not liability like Josh Gordon. Im not going to put Chubb into that stratosphere, yet. After 3 game I like giving him a more real expectation and that, to me, is Michael Turner. I would really like to see him as a pass rush specialist or a LB who doesn't drop into coverage. Still think he was a hell of a 5th rounder.
bosko1616
I really wouldn’t mind giving Sheldon Richardson a 3-4 year deal.

Coverage for an NFL rookie LB is the hardest aspect to learn. The complexities of offenses and superior athletes make it a bigger adjustment that takes longer. Remember, Schobert, as a 2nd year player last season, struggled often in coverage. Now he's the best in the league. Not saying Avery will make that same jump, but I'd give him at least another season before I make a final judgement on his coverage ability. Plus, he has the speed and quickness necessary to handle coverage, so it's really a matter of experience and learning. Some guys never get up to snuff, but he's at least got the raw stuff he needs.
NateDawg
I don’t care if Avery can cover honestly. We took him in the 5th. If we can even get a good situational pass rusher out of that, he’s outplayed the value there. I’m not expecting him to be a well rounded LB anytime soon, and I don’t think that’s what he was picked for. We will likely sign or draft another LB to play the position and Avery can continue to hit the QB (hopefully not in the knee like today) and continue developing his overall game. Avery's rookie year looks 10x better than Joe schos. Callaways looks 20x better than Louis, Higgins, or Payton. These guys all need more time, and e ball is in their court as to whether they love up to their potential.
