DreamKid
I think the team was banking on Alex Lewis being better than he is/was, and Hurst + Skura not showing the dip in run blocking they have at their new positions.

That was a lot of banking. Especially on Hurst at tackle. We've seen that movie before. Not a good look for the end of Ozzie's reign. Hopefully DeCosta goes into full offensive line replenish mode this offseason. Center is the main focus. Hurst might be serviceable again at left guard, but Skura just doesn't do it for me. I think he's a plus backup at the position but not the type of player I want as the clear starter. Still don't regret letting Jensen and Wagner walk for the contracts they received. I'd love it if there was some sort of draft reward/benefit, like if you hit on a 3rd round player you can get a % of their 2nd contract to not count against the cap. That isn't how it works though, and you can't overpay for talent that isn't Elite.
berlin calling
yeah but that is why most teams hand out contract extensions before the rookie contract runs out. buy low before you face a potential bidding war. not the Ravens way obviously but it has cost them in recent years. saintsfan
Do you guys think Ty will take some of Collins' carries away? I have Collins in fantasy as my RB3/Flex and wonder how this will effect him
wackywabbit
I disagree with most everyone about the need for a RB. Yes, 5 offensive lineman are more important than 1 RB on a given running play, but there is definitely room for an inprovement on Collins' penchat for negative and super negative plays, and Buck Allen's allergy to taking a play more than the minimal amount it should go for. I like this move for the potential of a contributor with minimal cost.

And if something has to be done this offseason... use the assets on a lineman(men) please. At least before adding another back.

I’m not sure what to really make of Ty Montgomery though because he’s not really a true RB, he seems like a poor man’s Percy Harvin and so I think we might be looking to incorporate him into the Lamar Jackson sets with trickery. What’s more he’s a great return specialist and thus he’ll offer us depth there as well. I imagine he can backup Willie Snead as our chain moving slot option if needed. I’m thinking he can be a bit of a Swiss Army knife if he looks good in a limited role. I don’t think this disrupts anything we currently have going on too much though. We’ll see how the team envisions him, but I’m sure with how we’ve been searching for a suitable return specialist this season this move is more about that, then it is about fixing the RB position. Less hyper-inefficient Buck Allen touches for one thing. It's not going to take much to justify dropping a future 7th.

M.10.E
Yup, he's miles better than Buck Allen.

Not sure if he lost some explosiveness coming into the league or what, but he's turned into complete trash from a yards per touch perspective.
