JammerHammer21
Who could have possibly seen the public backlash that would come from reinstating Durkin?
WeaponX
This was the right thing to do. And something they should have done from the start

Initial thoughts: Better late than never That stupid *** report is still published where UMD listed out the horsecrap reasons to keep him Loh needs to GTFO too Major props to the players, students, alumni, and everybody else who made this happen. NateDawg
Good on the student body and players. Lets not pretend though that this was about UMD doing the right thing. It was about the backlash making things far worse keeping him.
Dr. Philly
The whole university has been a mess. Ashamed to be even associated with them right now at this point. It should have never gotten this far. Glad Durkin is gone, but he isn't the only one that needs to go.
BigD88
Sounds like Loh always wanted to fire him but was urged not to. Good on him for eventually doing so.
Thelonebillsfan
The freaking GOVERNOR had to step in and tell them to fire this guy.
Thelonebillsfan
And flatly the players should walk out anyway I mean this university was perfectly willing to allow this to happen if not for universal backlash from every avenue possible. rob_shadows
Should have been done a long time ago... Personally I'd like to know how the hell Durkin and the conditioning coach aren't facing potential charges for negligent homicide.
IDOG_det
The fact that they wanted to keep him is disgusting. He killed your teammate and they were going to try and let him get away with it. They had to be pressured by all different kinds of people to finally make the right decision. I would transfer if I were a Maryland player. Would be nice if we could transfer Maryland right on out of the Big Ten as well.
WizardHawk
And, to think Maryland had Frank Reich all locked up. All they needed to do was hand him a contract.

They don't make us any money I have no idea why there's this cone of silence around the issue at large. Someone is dead, and nobody is being held accountable at seemingly any conceivable level. Hogan is in the middle of a highly contested election year and probably put pressure on the DA to keep this from escalating into a talking point or something Jealous could use against him. That's all I'll say.
