I honestly don't know, but if he's doing it intentionally, I genuinely hope that whoever Mahomes' and Hunts' agents take the Chiefs to the cleaners with adamant payoff clauses tied to scores. Ultimately with Mahomes it isn't going to matter because any Top 7 QB is going to get a Top 3 positional contract (or better) when they re-up, that's just the nature of the beast. He most likely wasn't the target, and they most likely hoped a cornerback/safety would commit to cover Lamar Jackson.
