Orlando’s Game Plan

This week we face off against a division rival, and while their record is 3-4-1 we don’t walk in thinking this to be a cake walk.  After last week’s bye Orlando heads to Camden, determined and focused.

It’s possible that we are without Gronk this week, but we made a deal with the devil a few days ago, acquiring Odell Beckham from the very same team we face now.

Offense

Scheme:  Run & Shoot

Formations:  I-form 2 TE set / Single back 3 wide / Shotgun

Camden still has an exceptional defense, with a solid secondary and isn’t a team to sleep on.  We expect the hood rats to bring some pressure, to combat this we’ll use motion at the line of scrimmage to expose their defensive coverage; either man or zone.  In two tight end sets, we’ll use one of them to protect his blind side.  In single back sets, we’ll move to a quicker tempo and shorter routes by the receivers.  In shotgun, we’ll go max protect pulling either the TE to block or using the tailback to cover the weak side blitz.

Passing

This week we are finally able to deploy our two outside receivers in Evans and Odell, both are exceptional threats and should get some strong attention, perhaps even cover 2 or 3 deep.  In the I-form we’ll get them some deep targets as pass protection should be at it’s best in those formations.  Having the two of them running a route tree of deep post, fly, fade and the occasional bubble screen, while Alvin goes inside past the blockers to pull the linebackers outside on out routes.  In this formation, we’ll utilize the play action pass to get Kamara out on screens and wheel routes as well as limited amount of dumps to the tight ends coming off chip blocks.

In single back 3 wide formations, we’ll get Odell on crossing routes, stop and go’s and let his RAC move the chains, while Mike Evans route tree will consist of dig, slant and out routes.  Sheppard in the slot will run more middle routes and Kamara will be targeted on quick inside slants.

In the shotgun, look for Orlando to put 4 wide, using either Dante Pettis or Kamara as the fourth receiver.  We’ll spread Evans, Odell, Sheppard and either Pettis or Kamara out and just see what kind of damage they can inflect.

Rushing

Using the I-form with dual tight ends in place of a fullback, we’ll attempt to move the chains, using Kamara as our featured back, with Chris Carson backing him up as needed.  We’ll use his speed on outside toss plays as well as getting Odell involved on some end arounds and delayed pitches.  We’ll run counters, as we expect Camden to play over aggressive.

Defense

Scheme:  Man Cover 1/ Cover 2

Formation:  34 Defense / 425 Nickel

Orlando will be playing out of the 34 defense and will be playing some aggressive football.  After trading Odell Beckham, we fully expect Camden to use their tight ends more this week.  Injuries and recent NFL trades have hurt Camden’s success running the ball, but even after trading their best receiver, this team can still be effective passing the ball, so our focus will be stopping the tight ends from having any success.

Passing

We want to get in the face of Alex Smith, using zone blitzing schemes to keep him unbalanced.  We feel using zone blitzing at the line we’ll be able to sneak in some would be blitzers into coverage against short to mid zone passing to his tight ends.  We’ll jam the outside receivers to throw off the timing, while the front focuses on getting pressure.

Jaire Alexander and Jalen Ramsey will play man coverage on an island, with Alexander on the right side and Ramsey on the left.   Cover 1 w/ Eddie Jackson playing the deep safety and Gibson and Davis assigned tight end coverage.  Bobby Wagner will be assigned zone coverage over the middle.

If, Camden puts Evan Engram at receiver, Davis will come out and the third safety will be assigned coverage duties.

In 3 or more receiver sets, Orlando will switch to the 425 nickel, with Watt and Matthews on the edge, Suh and Kenny inside.  Wagner and Davis at linebacker, King, Bradberry or Bethea will sub in the secondary.

Rushing

Our front seven is primarily focused on stopping the passing game and getting pressure on their quarterback.  So we expect to give up some yardage in the running game, however, we feel that we’ve got the personnel within the front 7 to limit it to short yardage.  If Camden loads up one side of the field, we’ll adjust coverage more to that side.

Offense
As we look toward the future we have nothing to lose this week,  so we're going to mix some things up. We still have a lot of young talented players on the offense and we're going to look to get the field spread, simplify the defense for our QB and let the young guys get loose. These are a few of the keys for us.

Lamar Jackson RPO city: No one cares about Alex Smith, let's be real. So against a good defense we're just gonna wing it and put Lamar Jackson it, spread the field out with our best players and let Jackson decide what he wants to do. With the two TE base, one TE will always line up in-line and the other will flex into the slot. This will force Orlando to choose to put a LB on a S on them. Either way that should lighten the box for a potential run from Jackson or one of our backs.

Motion city: To help simplify some things for Jackson, we're going to use a lot of motion for a few reasons. 1- It helps gets players loose from press on the LOS 2- It helps show Jackson what kind of coverage is being run 3- It opens up more options for sweeps and trick plays against an aggressive defense.

Match up city: We still have some pretty good players, and they're pretty unique players. I've already detailed the issues Njoku and Engram present as bigger bodies who run much faster than most players who are bigger bodies. Whenever a corner gets matched up on them they will be heavily targeted, when they're flexed out and especially in the red zone. Other than, we don't know man.

Defense (4-2-5 press cover 2 base)
With Orlando trotting out a cool new weapon they probably want to come out and throw on my secondary, so we're going to go with a base 2 deep look. Denzel Ward will stay on OBJ's side of the field, and Worley will stay on Evans side of the field to match up in press coverage better.

Attack Wilson: We know Russ is an escape artist, but we can't just let him hang back and play pitch and catch. With Lane Johnson being hurt, we're going to have an advantage with either of our starting defensive ends attacking them. We also feel we have an advantage with our interior rush with Hicks and Jarrett. To add in the pressure, our reserves come in with Wake and Beasley on the edge, and Solomon Thomas will actually kick inside for most of this game. Thomas is a really good athlete for his size, but he lacks bend for the edge. Inside he can use his quickness/strength combo to cause some problems on the 2nd unit.

Kamara spy: This week we'll want someone following Kamara all around. We choose promising rookie Avonte Maddox. He's played S and CB this year and has steadily been making plays, and his 4.3 speed will allow him to keep up with Kamara. If Orlando comes out in a 3 wide set, Maddox will stay in, Jewell will come out and another CB will take Maddox's spot in the slot. If Orlando is in a 2 WR set, Maddox will stay in the game as the 3rd CB/S and will be charged with following around Kamara while the LB's get TE duty. Other than that, we don't know man.

@Jlash you are attacking the wrong QB, Wilson isn't on my roster, we've got Rivers...lol

Also, Lane Johnson isn't 100% but he's started every game this season.

Oh yea, my bad about Rivers. Makes our job easier.

Johnson is out for the next 4-5 weeks but he did start last week so yes you are correct, my fault.

Look how my rookie OL Orlando Brown did against TJ Watt.

Rookie RT Orlando Brown Jr. graded as the best offensive lineman on Sunday (70.1), giving up zero pressures. He has allowed no sacks or hits so far this season.

He also pancaked the **** out of Watt at one point, so don't bring that scrub Zeus' way. Let him kill Cordy. haha.

You seem scared with all this talk about how "great" your team is.

Haha. I didn't even say great a single time. Hell I only said good a couple times, one of them referencing your defense.
