Offense

Running game – Singapore boasts a very good defensive line, to counter this we have one of the best OLs in the BDL. Whitworth (#4 PFF Tackle) Yanda (#5 PFF Guard), Kelly (#6 PFF Center), Scherff (#11 PFF Guard). Jordan Mills has been our RT fill in and this week will regularly get help with either Watson staying in to block or Shon Coleman as a 6th lineman on the right side to give Mills a double team on his assignment every down. Saquon Barkley is again our feature back and will get the majority of the carries and will be featured as a receiver out of the backfield. We will be attacking the edges with pulling guards and centers to get to the second level of the defense and break off big runs. Tarik Cohen is again in the starting lineup and will regularly be split out wide, if he’s covered by a LB he’ll be heavily targeted. We’ll also feature Cohen on a few reverses and misdirection plays to keep the D Line chasing all game as the DL depth isn’t nearly as good as the starters. Russell Wilson will be given the green light to take off if the

Passing game – This week we welcome in new addition Josh Gordon to the receiver corps. AB will obviously be the feature WR and we expect his CB to get safety help but whether it’s the banged up Trae Waynes or Mo Claiborne we expect AB to win his battle at the line, because of this we’ll be featuring him on shorter and intermediate routes. Josh Gordon on the other side will be the target for Russell Wilson on intermediate to deeper routes to keep the safeties honest. Christian Kirk will rotate in for Tarik Cohen regularly to provide more speed and take deeper shots but our base will be two WRs keeping their best corner Desmond King on the sideline. If they bring Desmond King on the field as their base instead of adding Eric Kendricks we expect King to be washed out by the additional lineman and Barkley to gain big edge yards.

Defense

DL/LB – This week we will be featuring a base 4-3. We welcome back two Pro Bowlers to the defensive side of the field, KJ Wright will be the additional OLB in our base 4-3 and Ziggy Ansah will rotate in at DE and will also rotate in for Rankins at DT on some plays to force additional interior pressure. We are using the 4-3 this week to shut down the run featuring a trio of Roquon Smith, Brandon Mashall and the previously mentioned KJ Wright. Connor and Hunt are the bread and butter of this offense and with an additional LB on the field we expect to shut down the running lanes and fill the interior gaps. We’re not sure what Singapore’s line will look like this week with the new additions of Donovan Smith (#48 PFF) and La’el Collins (#53 PFF) but with the exception of Staley the entire unit has been a mess. Clowney and Clark will again be the starters on the edge with Buckner and Rankins collapsing the middle. Ansah will be rotated in heavily at both DE and DT in place of Rankins to make sure we have our best 4 pass rushers on the field at all times to get pressure on David, I mean Derek, Carr who has been downright awful this year for Oakland. We’ll also be featuring a regular blitz from our LB corps to rack up the sacks and keep the offense from getting going.

Secondary – The secondary this week will be playing a soft zone cover 2 shell. Hayward and Lattimore will play the outside against Baldwin and Allen. While our corners haven’t replicated their amazing 2017 they are more than enough to cover Allen and Baldwin having subpar seasons of their own. K’wuan Williams and Bobby McCain will play inside if they bring a 3rd/4th WR on the field. Our secondary will be keeping all of the plays in front of them with Swearinger and Weddle playing cleanup work. KJ Wright will handle TE coverage duties as needed. With the pressure from the front 7 against a weak line we expect Carr to have a rough go getting anything going against the secondary.

SINGAPORE Week 9

Motivation - Stayin alive, Stayin alive. Ah ah ah ah Stayin Alive. Our last win was against the Nightmarchers and this time we get them at home. This one is for all the marbles with our playoff hopes on the line. Our strong defense will keep us in the game long enough to outlast this divisional opponent.

Offensive Strategy

Formations: 2 TE/ I-formation / Single Back/ 4 WR | Scheme:  Run (55%) vs Pass (45%)

Passing game

Protecting Carr was our #1 goal at the trade deadline. Collins takes over at RT with Donovan Smith as the swing tackle. Higbee comes in as our blocking TE to chip Clowney and also clear the way for Hunt and Conner. Moore rises up the depth chart to the #2 WR over Baldwin since he is still not 100%, but will man the slot in Single Back formations. Davis is in on 4 Wide sets to spread out the Hawaii secondary.

With our O-Line in tact we can give Carr long enough to hit his targets and march down the field. We’re going to go with tight sets with 21 personnel to run the bulk of our offense out of the same looking formation. This allows for our X and Z to run deep crossing routes more quickly to open up windows for Carr to hit them in stride. All of our backs are capable receivers as well out in the flat. Ebron remains a threat in the Red Zone.

Running Attack

Hunt again will get the bulk of carries (60%) with the bigger Conner coming in for short yardage and goal line carries. With Hawaii likely getting Wright back this week, a weakened middle gets a little bit stronger but our FB or 2nd TE will account for their LB and provide our shifty RB’s with minimal traffic to navigate. Our receivers get in on the running game as well with crack blocks on toss/outside zone plays. We will use lots of motion and shifts with the FB or TE to disguise the formation and keep the Night Marchers guessing. This motion can bring an extra blocker on both inside/outside zone runs.

Defensive Strategy

Formations:   4-2-5 (Nickel) / 3-2 Big Dime | Scheme:  Cover 1 / Man Free Blitz

Run D/Pressure

We weren't the only team to make OL adjustments at the deadline. Decker will be needed to combat Hunter with Griffen getting the start this week as well. Yanda as a LG has always perplexed me. This week he goes up against the most double teamed defender in the league in Donald. We like that match up. We will keep pressure on  Wilson with a rotation of our DL. Keeping guys fresh into the 4th quarter. Jaylon Smith will be a spy on Barkley to limit his big play ability.

Coverage

Diggs being out is a huge blow to Hawaii offense. Flash while good isn't the burner that Diggs is. Claiborne will cover Brown. Waynes has Gordon and King will snuff out Kirk. Cohen if used will be covered by Johnson who also gets TE duty as well as he'll be in his robber position. Bates is playing lights out in his single high spot and should help limit the big play.

I'd really love to know how/why you've already voted for Singapore despite the fact that lineups/write-ups haven't even been posted yet....

o.Oo.O

I vote against all late write ups.  This started years ago.  I'm like the embodiment of a one vote late penalty

...strange but noted to not post about it if my lineup is gonna be 15 mins late.

Don't take it personally as I totally understand your situation.  We had votes in meetings on how to handle this and we never could come up with a good solution.  Obviously your situation is legit but if we allow this, there were owners in the past who would use it as an excuse on why yours is OK to be late but there's is not etc.  So I kinda took it upon myself to serve as the penalty

DANIELLE IS THE REAL DEAL

Danielle Hunter does not get talked about enough as one of the league's best defensive players, but the steps he is taking in this, his 24th year on this planet, is otherworldly. Hunter had 3.5 sacks against the Lions and now has 11.5 sacks on the season. His birthday was earlier this week and the production that he is providing proves once again that signing him when they did this offseason (five years, $72 million) will make him one of the biggest bargains in the league with teams so desperate for pass-rush help and those salaries skyrocketing.

GRIFFEN IS BACK

If last week was shaking off the rust for Everson Griffen, then this week was his coming-back party and his return to form. Griffen started opposite Hunter after coming off the bench against the Saints. He would continue his dominance against the Lions with 1.5 sacks of his own and he looked more and more like his normal self. Hunter and Griffen highlighted a pass rush that came alive with the sum of its parts finally available all at once and had a franchise-record 10 sacks against a hapless Lions offensive line. They didn't only beat the Lions, but they also broke them. That number of sacks a week is not realistic, and half of that may not even be realistic, but the Vikings are back up front and you saw the ripple effect it has on the rest of the defense.
