We needed this bye week… if we get Boyle and Watkins back it unlocks our offense… We could use a lead back… but I think more importantly we need faith in the guys we have on the field… Watkins Hollywood Bateman Andrews and Boyle… 5 lineman and Lamar.. that’s our best lineup… since our run game is Lamar anyway why not maximize the pass catching threats and play a spread with a run pass option every play for our best player with all of his best weapons on the field… Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The trade makes sense for a lot of reasons other than the fact that we probably can’t afford Mack long term as the 3rd RB. Colts would get bigger compensation than what they stand to get as the compensatory pick, Mack could increase his value significantly in a RB friendly scheme and we would (short term) fill a need. The question is how much of our long-term resources (draft picks) are worth compared to the short-term need. Given our current and future cap situation, we need (cheap) draft picks on the roster) I wonder if we could get more value for Ty’son Williams (with 3 years under contract) than it would take to trade for Mack (6 month rental)?
