Louisiana Jazz

Offense:

Plan is going to be to air it out using a variety of formations. We’re going to have James White involved on about 50% of the snaps, subbing in for Elliott quite often to take advantage of a Berlin front that’s quite heavy. The goal will be to get the ball in his hands early so he can use his YAC ability to consistently churn out gains.

Thomas and Watkins will have plenty of balls come there way against a subpar Berlin secondary, while Lockett will draw the start as our 3rd WR and be used as both a deep threat and crosser out of the slot. Cook & Ertz will also see a substantial number of targets as they matchup against the rookie LBs, with the aim to have Ertz take advantage of Edmund’s greenness.

The run game will be pretty standard, with Elliott getting 15-20 carries or so, mostly towards Lawrence as he’s the biggest pass-rushing threat, with the aim to slow him down and tire him for later in the game.

Defense:

The key CB assignments are CHJ will be on Hill, with Boston as our cover 1 safety helping deep to avoid being burnt. On the outside, Gilmore will shadow Golladay while Fuller is on MVS or whoever else draws the start. With Hyde and Boston now both being available, Fuller has free reign to target the ball and with Keenum at QB we fully expect some interceptable passes to be taken by the man leading the league in picks.

In terms of our other coverage assignments, Trevathan will be tasked with Miller/Clement out of the backfield while Hyde will be on Burton.

The defensive line will rotate as per usual, with Onyemata working his way into the equation and he’ll see plenty of snaps in place of Richardson to help keep him fresh, particularly on run-downs while Hankins will rotate in occasionally too for Casey. Curry will feature, as well as Ford moving do a hand-down position while Davis takes over plays in the LB crew too.

Ford will act as our 3rd edge rusher in most base sets, with the aim to fluster Keenum and force him into turnovers. We know that Keenum operates best when he has time to throw and the ability to have his receivers bail him out, so with tight coverage and a lot of pressure, we anticipate some turnovers and points.

Berlin Blitzkrieg

Offense
TL;DR - Use our outside WRs for chunk plays, run enough to keep them honest, use PA, and run the offense through Tyreek and Burton.

Louisiana has a solid D from front to back.  That said, we don’t believe them to be elite in any one area, so will attack all areas.

3 WR - We will use our standard 3 WR set with Burton at TE and Tyreek in the slot.  Both of our outside WRs are 6’4” and we will use that size to our advantage.  We will throw backshoulder to use their length, crossers to use their size, and take our deep shots to use their speed.  We will also run a few WR screens to keep the CBs off balance.

Tyreek and Burton will be the engines of our offense this week.  Burton can beat whoever they put on him and we want to get him heavily involved in every way from screens to down the seam.  Tyreek will see plenty of quick passes and screens to get the ball into his hands.  We will also use him on jet sweep motions to try to make the defense get out of position and hand it off on occasion.  And of course, we will air it out to him, regardless of the coverage.

Lamar will get 15-20 carres as we don’t want to ignore the run game.  Look for us to run more off tackle to avoid Casey and Sheldon as Casey especially is a stud.  We will also use him on screens and draws to keep their DL honest.  Clement will help keep Lamar fresh, especially on 3rd downs to use his pass blocking and getting 5-10 carries.

We want to use plenty of play action and allow Case to roll out as he excels in this area, completing 76.7% of his PA passes this year.

4 WR - One of Agholor or Godwin will come in for Burton.  We want to stress the secondary of the Jazz to its limits.  We will layer our routes and typically have one deep threat, two crossing at different levels, and one quicker option.  Lamar will be used to chip before releasing as a check down.  We will also run draws, screens, and off tackle so the D can’t just tee off.

Defense

TL;DR - Mix up coverages, put 8 in the box, keep our DL fresh.

2 TE - The Jazz like to use a 2 TE set.  We are going to use a Seattle style cover 3.  Gareon is LCB and Alford is RCB.  They will take deep thirds with Kazee taking the middle third.

Kiko and Rashaan will play the OLB spots and cover the flats.  Tremaine will play MLB and take a middle zone.

Haha is going to play up in the box and take the other middle zone.  We want him close to the line to help out in the run game and keep 8 in the box.

We will also run some Cover 1 man to not be predictable.  Kazee will sit deep middle and Haha will take a shallower middle zone.  This will allow us to help out with the TEs down the seam.  Our outside CBs will play with outside leverage to force their WRs in towards those zones.  Kiko and Rashaan will take the TEs in man, but will know that they have help up the seam.  Tremaine will spy Zeke, and if Zeke stays in to block, he will come on a delayed blitz.

3 WR - If they go 3 WR, Hilton comes in for Kiko.  We will run the same two coverages above, with Hilton taking the flat in zone and the slot WR in man.

For any of this to work, we will need our defense to get pressure on Brady.  Lawrence and Houston should get constant pressure against Brady against the OTs.  While their interior is better, we think our top 2 DTs can clog up the middle and get interior pressure.  We will use a constant rotation of DL should keep these guys fresh.
