Possible Lions may get New Ownership

There’s been a very low keyed rumor the someone wants to buy the Lions. Tonight Channel 4 did a story on who & when. Dan Gilbert’s attorney confirmed that Dan is making all the moves to satisfy the NFL to purchase the Lions. He sold the Greektown Casino for 1 Billion,  it’s not only for capital but to distance himself from the gambling industry. He now has enough capital to make an offer to the Fords that they can’t refuse. The lawyer said in the near future Gilbert will publicity announce his intentions to purchase the Lions. If this is true, is it a good thing or are the Lions jumping out of the pan, into the fire?

No way, this is absolutely a good thing. Not that I love Gilbert or something but literally just about any ownership sincerely compeititive with a track record of organizational success on top of that... definitely an upgrade.

The Fords will be in sport legend as soon as they sell the team or saddly die, they'll forver be brought up in casual sports conversations, one of the top and most note worthy owners for having the title, " Worst owner in sports. "

Dan Gilbert has been rumored to be interested in the Tigers and/or Red Wings since the Illich children don't seem to be interested in them since Mike's death. The rumor has never included the Lions despite some Detroit "fans" wishes to see the team switch hands.

Yep, it would still be too difficult for him to buy the Lions. He still owns too much in gambling and the Fords have no reason to sell. It is a possibility that he could buy the Tigers, only real hurdle there would be satisfying the MLB in regards to his gambling ownership. I doubt they'll sell the Red Wings, they just built a new arena and the history of winning makes the team much easier to hold onto.
