I think Rodgers wanted that in part to help him gain some accuracy and to gain more hang time (hiding the garbage coverage as well). Last year he was allowed to boot the ball long a few times with a traditional drop. Hopefully it has clicked and he can alternate either, and will be able to flip the field. Secondly, I think we're seeing decent promise with this draft class. I don't know that Shaheen is where everybody thought he'd be, but both Jackson and Cohen look like they're ready to be major contributors. Jackson will have his bad days, but he's already much more active in coverage than Amos. Cohen looks great on outside zone runs (not so much when they tried to run power) and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a 70/30 split with Howard. Trubisky... I think there's a thread for that.
