After a penalty, and a 1st down screen to Adams which ESB whiffs a bit and the blocking isn't there...

2-18 Rodgers fades back in a clean pocket, completes to Adams.  Here we have a 3x1 set for GB and Rodgers sticks on Adams while fading away back and to his left for no reason.  The play is likely designed to go to the 3 WR side, where ESB is running underneath for 9 yards at catch and plenty of YAC opportunity.  Rodgers only trusts Adams here, and he manages to get a completion based on their connection, skill and moxy.

-------------------------

3-7 this is an incomplete deep ball to Adams.  Really poor underthrow.  Pressure is coming and he doesn't step in at all giving Adams no chance who did have a step.

1-10 deep incomplete to Adams on crossing route

This is a really cool design to fit with the game plan of getting WRs crossing deep in front of a single high safety.  This leaves Adams 1 on 1 with Wagner, who interferes with Adams.  Ball comes out on the run after Rodgers is flushed.  Good initial pocket, but he waits on adams, and probably too long.  If this goes up when adams is at the 20... it's 1 on 1 and adams is getting the PI call there when it would be bigger contact, or he's coming down with that.  Adams starts here in the backfield from pistol, then is motioned into tight slot.  Cool design.

3-10 incomplete

here's the double crosser concept with ESB in behind them.  This play is there and the ball needs to come out.  Simple as that really, went into detail in the other thread.  RUN THE OFFENSE

---------------------------

1-10 complete to ESB crossing route behind LBs.

Good PA pass high low concept and ball comes out on time to crossing ESB.  not the perfectly catchable ball, but the timing is perfect and a good job overall. This is one of 2 examples of the ball coming out on time within the play design.

--------------------------

1-10 sacked.  PA Pass and No throw to primary target of MVS even though he stares him down and he looks open.  Gotta pull the trigger here.  ESB is running a nice little seam route that he converts after selling PA.  Rodgers just holds it for some reason and does nothing.  Plenty of time to hit this play.  He takes 3 hops and is staring at an open guy.

https://imgur.com/NOwcWqP

---------------------------

3-3 misdirection play which totally fails and ends in a sack.   This one is on Mac and good job by Seattle D.  I think the plan here is to sell a lot of action going to the left and sneak out jones to the right, but Seattle stays home AND covers the end around action to ESB.  Adams is doubled up deep.  This one is on Mac.  just didn't work

https://imgur.com/XNZoJR2

-----------------------

1-10 dumpoff to Jones.  This starts a series of plays which involve 3 vertical routes from the WRs, and 2 out breaking routes from RB and TE.  Here rodgers picks the wrong one.  Seattle drops to cover the verticals allowing for the underneath, but he doesn't hit Lewis who would be going for decent yardage.   He looks at him and holsters the throw for no good reason.  Indecisive Quarterback play leads to a 1 yard gain.

https://imgur.com/uJq3TKG

-----------------------

2-9 missed screen to ESB. We saw this earlier in the year with MVS.  Two issues - WR is not moving up the field like rodgers expects, and Rodgers doesn't throw a catchable ball whatsoever.  Either the WR and QB are exactly on the same page or the pass is incomplete.  That's not the margin for error you want on an easy play like this which is designed to be a safe throw.  Horrible outcome.  Probably mostly on the WR here but not a good look from the offense overall.  Motion presnap sets this up as far as an easy read and sets up some other plays down the line

https://imgur.com/fqoll7C

--------------

3-9 Deep shot to Adams complete.  Here Rodgers does a great job with the hard count, seattle is caught in a blitz, he instructs jones to block a blitzer, Seattle sends 6.  Great job by Rodgers occupying the safety in middle by staring down the deep Dig to ESB until adams can clear him.  From there it's pitch and catch with a good release by Adams.  Also a DPI here which wouldn't affect things but went uncalled.  2nd example of proper execution by offense.  Really great QB play on this snap.

https://imgur.com/3Fk90t0

----------------------------

1-10 now we have that same 3 verticals from the WR concept with Lewis and Jones in flats/out routes underneath. AGAIN rodgers misses lewis, even though he gets to him in the read and he's open.  Basically passes up open receiver to get to Jones who has no chance

https://imgur.com/Di16gcA

---------------

3-5 no dumpoff to Jones, holds it and tries to scramble for sack.

He has jones here, and there's pressure.  This needs to be checked down.  Again, this is that same 3 vertical concept with the dumpoff options underneath.   There's good pressure and Lane Taylor gets beat across for pressure in Rodgers' face.  The pressure doesn't manifest and if he doesn't panic this would be fine.  But he does, and it's another sack like all the others.

https://imgur.com/evMLUTO

-------------------

1-10 this is a throwaway.  There's a dumpoff option here to Jones which he doesn't take.  Jones is visibly frustrated.

He jumps backwards and just turfs it, and I'm pretty sure the goal here is to get it out and not take a sack. Pressure comes up the middle and I don't think it's getting home, but at this point in the game the first sign of that he's cutting bait.

https://imgur.com/Kej3ifE

------------------------

2-10 flat slants to MVS.  Ball out on time, pretty basic stuff for this team.  MVS tries to make a big play, but doesn't gain or lose anything extra.

https://imgur.com/fV20xoh

--------------

3-2 turfed throw to MVS

Same concept flat slants and the play is there but the throw is not.  I thought ball was tipped but I watched this dozens of times.  Gif is slowed down and I think Rodgers is trying to throw it UNDER the DT's arm so that's why the ball is crap and in the turf.  Game losing play followed by game losing decision to punt it.

Thanks for all the work! Now I'm really thinking it's more mental than physical with Rodgers. The confidence is gone.

You have a guy who you can't get to throw the checkdown, yet you keep giving him 3-4 verts in the red zone.

It's like having an AA meeting in a bar.

More of the same just worse. 40% disgusted with Mac and 60% Rodgers with this game. Could change next week. Tune in Sunday night for "Who will screw up this week?"

You are a crazy man to put this effort in, but thank you.

My 2 cents on the misdirection play where Rodgers is sacked, is that the defense is coming knowing Rodgers is going deep so they don't give s crap about misdirection because they know he won't go short.

haha thanks.

Took an hour or so once you get in the groove.

The misdirection play... there's nothing open at all.

Like others have said, thanks for putting the work in.

A couple of these aren't as bad as I initially thought.  The 3rd and 2 turf throw makes more sense realizing he was going under the defender's arm.  Probably should still be a routine throw but at least there looks to be a reason for throwing it so low.  The first and 10 where Jones gets frustrated doesn't seem like a terrible miss to me.  Jones wasn't THAT open and that play at best gets maybe 2 yards?  Obviously better than none but there were much worse misses.

A few other things that have mostly been touched on -

  • The interior line is like a constant warning going off in Rodger's head and it looks to be a big part of his early panicking.
  • Lewis is on your team, give him the ball!  He was wide open on more than one of those for 7+ yards.  Going forward without Graham now so let's not completely ignore our TEs.
  • The route concepts really aren't that bad most of the time.  If Rodgers can just settle in and play, this offense should hum just fine.  Receivers are open for plenty of YAC.  I get they have been making some of the mistakes that drive Rodgers nuts but if he continues to zero in on Adams then we will continue to sputter.

The play with Jones the closest defender that isn't' on the defensive line is 10 +yards away, no way in hell he only gets 2 yards unless he trips.

I do agree about the interior line, RG was trash in this game.

On another note similar issues in the 1st half where guys were wide open and Rodgers didn't throw to them, some of these plays he is looking directly at the first read and refusing to throw.   He keeps trying to find Adams when MVS or someone else is open.  We lost this game because of Rodgers and the RG position.

Our tackles didn't have a great game either.  :(   Some of Rodgers' issues could be the line but a lot of it could be our opposing coaching staffs are making adjustments as the games progress and we are not.

I'm referring to the 1st and 10 on the 25 where Rodgers ends up throwing it away.  You can see Jones is frustrated on this one (which is most likely a culmination of the other misses) but his route puts him on the 27 with Wagner (I think?) breaking towards him from maybe the 32.  That dump-off wouldn't have gone anywhere.

Now that 3rd and 5 in the red zone.....Jones is most likely in for a TD there.  That one could be the worst one on here since 4 more points and we are tied with the Vikings and only a game and a half behind the Bears...

Not much you can say .. Rodgers is leaving a lot of stuff on the field.  If you've got a Qb that is struggling like this how do you get him back on track?  I'm doubting McCarthy will do the things they need to do to get him turned around ... more emphasis on run game .. spread formations .. no huddle,  three step drops, less vertical routes, etc.  All season long and for the better part of three seasons this offense has been out of sync.

Tough read/watch, but necessary. I don't think MM is out of touch with the NFL (which has been a loud narrative) but it does look like him and Rodgers aren't on the same page. Especially since AR looks like he's way too indecisive/jumpy. Same **** that plagued him in 2015.

It would sure help if AR would get into a "decisive" progression rhythm and hit some GD passes. The chains would move - the offense would flow - it would give AJ better lanes - and we'd look better than this half assed - on again / off again offense.

Graham being out (as I suspect) is sure gonna hurt. Some one of that crew is gonna have to step up and ARs gonna have to feed them the ball.
Our DL is one bad block / turned ankle away from being a real problem - and I hope Cobb can get his butt on the field again. We need all hands on deck now.
