Seemed like only last season he was being touted as a good OC.

Whoever was doing that needs to be shot to the sun.

There were quality games he coached last year, for sure. But they seemed to only come when Fournette was out. Any time Fournette was in, he called a 1970’s style offense the majority of every game.

now if only there was a change at 3 more spots. GM, DC, and QB.

DC because for whatever reason we seemingly blow zone coverages yet we still call them. gm because Caldwell cant buy a good 1st round pick that isnt  an obvious pick IE Ramsey.  QB cuz Bortles is clearly shook.

You don't have much of a choice when Bortles is your QB.

If there's one thing that doomed Hackett, it was the 2H of the AFCG.    The Jags stopped calling RB dive on 1st down, and play with any type of aggression, the Jags win that game.  After that, who knows what they would have done vs. PHI. But the 2H went as it did.    That alone wasn't reason enough to fire him, but it highlighted that in close games, if it came down to coaching, well, Hackett wasn't going to cut it with the big boys.

And yeah, Bortles is a huge reason for their lack of imagination - but Hackett's vanilla mode was also present when Bortles actually wasn't a total liability, either.    So it's hard to put that on just QB play.

There's no doubt JAX needs a new QB.  But they probably needed a new OC, too.   Sadly, you can't fire a QB in-season (at least, not without a real backup).

I'm actually interested in hearing what Jags' fans think about sticking with Marrone?

i think we can give him a year and then we choose.  khan gave bradley a long leash and bradley was worse then marrone.   what i want is better play-calling on both sides of the ball and a better QB.

Marrone, caldwell and coughlin all got 2 year extensions in the offseason.  team needs to mature up so im not sure whos to blame on that but Replacing Bortles is step 1a and a new scheme is 1b.
