It's basically two profoundly disabled people have a slap fight. Sure, someone might "win" but.

First off, comparing disabled people to the Mets is offensive to disabled people.

Second, DiPoto isn't disabled so much as he's a crackhead who can't stop making trades.

Third, someone can definitely win a cripple fight. Pretty sure it was Jimmy the last time it happened, but would have to re-watch South Park to confirm.

And now the reported deal is that out of that 60 million, only 23 million are earmarked for Cano salary, the rest is Bruce and Swarzaks money.

And now the deal goes right back to being terrible for the Mets.

But money is fungible

I'll miss Cano and Diaz, but this sets the M's up pretty well financially for the future. We'll have nothing committed past 2021 once Segura is traded. If some of the prospects pan out, we may be able to compete for the division by 2022. By then the Astros will have lost a few players to free agency and competing for the division will be more realistic.

Hopefully they maximize Haniger's value and trade him too. No point in keeping him since he'll be 30+ and near free agency by the time we're possibly competitive.

The deal doesn't make much sense for the Mets, but they'll definitely be more entertaining to watch. Hopefully they're active in free agency, and make this worth it for their fans.

This deal has circled back to just being weird. It started lose-lose, then went to full lolMets, then went to full lolM's, and now is back to just both teams doing something that doesn't make sense. The M's should just be willing to eat Cano's deal and get full prospect value for Diaz. The Mets have no direction in any sense of the word.

I just don't get it. Baseball trades are usually decisively not weird, but this is really weird.
