For those who are interested in learning more about the $1.8 B Raiders future home, check out the following videos. They are being released by the Raiders on YouTube as a semi-series, going over everything related to the stadium. To put it simply, this stadium is going to be absolutely insane

Key features of the Las Vegas stadium

  • The ethylene tetrafluoroethylene ceiling is a high-strength translucent polymer. It will let in natural light that can be restricted with a pattern of embedded materials that can keep the heat down in the summer.
  • The ceiling will rest 220 feet above the floor, which will be sunk 20 feet below ground level. That below-ground bowl, which is being excavated by crews now, will allow about half of the fans at an event to go down and the other half up to their seats, reducing congestion.
  • The translucent stadium components will make the stadium appear black during the day, but lights inside the stadium will be visible from outside at night. The ribbon structure along the sides will ventilate fresh air in, relieve exhaust from inside out and drain any water from the roof.
  • The natural-grass field will grow outdoors on a 4-foot-high tray that will be wheeled inside on game day. An artificial-turf field will rest atop the concrete stadium floor.
  • Stadium capacity will vary by event. For football games, it’ll be around 62,500. For Major League Soccer, 60,000. Additional seats can be added for events like the Super Bowl bringing capacity to 70,000.
  • The stadium will have nine clubs, three at field level, including two on opposite sides of the field at the 50-yard line. Clubs will have 8,000 seats at premium prices.
  • The north end of the stadium will have folding 80-by-120-foot lanai doors opening to a view of the Las Vegas Strip.

Looks like it'll be pretty sweet. How do Raiders fans in general feel about the move to Las Vegas? Happy? Sad? Indifferent? I know at least some of you guys don't blame them for leaving Oakland.

Sad they are leaving California! Happy we finally get a new stadium instead of being dicked around by Oakland and the NFL over LA.

Las Vegas is not that far away so I am not mad and gives me the excuse to go to Vegas. That is if we actually build a real team first.

I obviously can't speak on behalf of Raider fans from Oakland (being a Canadian eh?), but I for one am ecstatic. Look at what Las Vegas is giving us vs the absolutely pathetic facilities we have now. We have a dirt infield for half the season for gods sakes! The city of Oakland had decades to work something out. I don't feel bad for the city one bit but I do feel bad for the loyal Raider fans.

We're going from THE worst stadium in all of professional sports to arguably the most elaborate. Our players will go from the crazy high Cali taxes to the non-existent ones in Nevada. Our team is going from a very rough city no one would normally visit other than being close to San Fran, to one of the world's most recognizable cities.

I always find it funny every time I drive by it and see the billboard saying "Las Raiders"... Dodgers do "Los Dodgers" but it makes sense...

Oh man, this place is incredible!  Right on the strip?!!!!  Amazing.  When the Vikings play there, it would be worth taking the trip down there just for the excuse to see the new stadium and get in a little gambling in after the game.  What an awesome place to have a football team.  I know it must be hard for long time Raider fans to see their team leave Oakland, but this setting is going to make up for it by being a huge success.  It should quickly become one of the best venues in the league.

Raiders nation on FF has a lot of cool fans, and it's nice to see some good stuff coming their way.  Congrats!

It sounds like the same people who built U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis are also involved in this project.  I just went to a game there for my first live game experience in about 25 years and it was excellent.  My brother and I saw the Vikings/Raiders game, and I had seats in the second row from the field on the 25-yard line.  Adam Thielen's fumble happened right in front of us, which was kind of a buzzkill, but it was still great being so close to the action.

Compared to our old "Humpty Dome", the seating was a big improvement.  I'm 6'3" tall and legroom was an issue in the dome.  At US Bank, I had a lot of room to stretch out.  Also, the old dome was a loud place, but nowhere near as loud as US Bank.  That is a crazy loud building.  I'm guessing that since you will have a roof on your place, they will probably put an emphasis on making your stadium very loud too, which would be expected for a raucous fanbase like Raider Nation.

Video 2 shows them pouring a lot of concrete.  Seeing as how this stadium is in Vegas, it makes me wonder if any of Jimmy Hoffa's buddies will find a permanent resting place there.  :D

Favre too.

Stadium really does look nice though. Good blend of modern and classic lines. I think the roof design idea is perfect and love the open look onto the strip.

Hell I might go there for a non-GB game. When's this thing open?

Every fan is going to hope their team plays the Raiders in Las Vegas each season (for reasons other than getting an easy W). It's another excuse to take in the entertainment capital of the world. LV is so accessible and relatively cheap compared to going to other cities for sporting weekends. This will result in almost every single game being sold out I imagine. Either through Raider fans coming in from around the world, opposing team fans coming in, Hotels/Casinos/Clubs buying hundreds of tickets at a time and comping them to patrons, etc. Every friend I know who has even a slight interest in the NFL has expressed going down to Las Vegas with me to watch their team play the Raiders. I expect this will be a very common trend.

I do think the "home crowd" noise will diminish vs other teams home games, simply as tons of other teams fans will be present. However just think of the opportunity the Raiders have to expand their fanbase and help the NFL flourish. People fly in from around North America and the world all the time to party in Las Vegas, and going to a live NFL game will certainly be on many peoples to-do list. Lots of those individuals will probably choose to cheer for the home town team simply to immerse themselves with Las Vegas further. I think this will lead to a major boost in the Raider fanbase throughout the US and world.

Mark Davis is going to be a very, very rich man. Maybe he will finally be able to afford a new haircut? I doubt it.
