Packers fire Head Coach Mike McCarthy; Joe Philbin named interim HC

The Packers fired Mike McCarthy after losing today to the Cardinals, who are now 3-9. This move was long in the making as many Packers fans wanted him out before the season (many wanted him out even earlier). The Packers have struggled offensively despite having one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. One has to imagine this means Aaron Jones will see an increase in playing time, as he is seemingly the preferred running back of Aaron Rodgers. The strained relationship between Rodgers and McCarthy is also a deciding factor in this firing.

The Packers should be the top job on the head coaching market.

I wonder what his excuse will be next season?  He has been performing about as badly as McCarthy this year.

McCarthy had a great run in Green Bay, but it was obviously time for him to go.  It will be interesting to see who they replace him with.
