I hate when big market teams operate like this so very, very much.
animaltested
With Segura there are some lingering issues, being able to stick at SS through the extension and some attitude questions. Regardless, next year is gonna suck. Seattle is going to have to watch a 100 loss team in a pink stadium. I understand shedding payroll, but who the hell are the M's gonna spend it on? 31 year old Mitch Haniger? FA are not going to want to come here [even though Washington has no income tax] and the farm is full of flawed AAAA dudes. #sogsquad4life Its apparent, the Mariners used a Monkey Paw to land Griffey, Johnson and A-Rod, and will suffer the after effects of that for the rest of eternity. hrubes20
I don't get this move by the Mariners at all. Have they not updated their scouting report on Crawford since 2016?
tom cody
The Mariners really are tearing up their team. A guy like Segura's a good one, he should do well on the Phillies.
The Gnat
I kind of got why they would make the Cano/Diaz move. With a blowing up the team, might as well get the pieces an elite closer can get you. But I don't see much value for what the Mariners are getting this time around. I guess getting out of some contracts earlier, but that's it.
flyguy1609
Welcome to Seattle, Carlos Santana and J.P. Crawford! The Mariners have acquired the first baseman and shortstop from the Phillies in exchange for Jean Segura, Juan Nicasio and James Pazos. 📰 atmlb.com/2QBvmPK
Eagles27
So DiPoto even threw in a power lefty reliever who isn't even arbitration eligible yet... No way to sugarcoat this. Terrible deal.
animaltested
Such is the life of being a Mariners. JP better be decent.
Thelonebillsfan
Crawford still flashes when he's healthy. But he's never healthy.
mm6492
JP has flashes and kinda disappointing as a fan he never became what we all hoped in Philly. But I like the move for us, had to shake some stuff up and this goes a long way in helping that.
