FinSting
New rule: when the long-snapper sends the ball backwards, the punter cannot catch it. Instead, he has to kick it while it's still in the air.

It was a joy watching guys like Dante Hall, Devin Hester, Josh Cribbs, etc. before the rule change. A guy like Cordarrelle Patterson would likely have several more touchdowns/huge kick returns had they not changed the rules on kickoffs.

I think this guy is correct (got to give him credit for the clickbaity title shot). If you don't agree, we can part on friendly terms if not friends. There is no fair catching, but it is required to give the Returner at least 5 yards space when he is initially fielding the punt. That's actually the only CFL rule I love over it's NFL counterpart. No fair catch, just make the first guy miss and you get a chance. It's hard to stay 5 yards away, which results in several penalties, which gives the offense a better starting position. But then, the game would be slowed down by coaches challenging that there was or wasn't a player within 5 yards...
FuzzyTiger
Article says players are twice as likely to get concussions on punt plays so we should probally get rid of it, also RBs have a increased risk of injuries on running plays we should probally get rid of those, not to mention the increased risk to QBs and WRs on pass plays we should get rid of those too. footbull3196
Every time we leave a major decision up to the fans they screw it up. Why did the league expect it to be any different this time

Nbanflguy
I say we get rid of punts and kick offs. Actually lets get rid of defenses as well. Running backs too. Lets just have Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers take turns passing up and down the field. FOOTBALL YEEHAAWWW

It's a waste of time to watch 97% of kickoffs go for a touchback. Just set the ball at the 20 and save us the hassle 30 seconds from coming into the commercial to the commercial after the touchback. Still have onside kicks, however.
Manny/Patrick
How about the punter gets to run freely for 7 seconds and wherever they stop is where the opposing team gets the ball? Or some sarcastball

Punts could be made more boring by punting it out of bounds without a penalty unlike kickoffs
