Vikings fire OC John DeFilippo

Hey!  Hey!  @ the person who ridiculed me for pointing out that the Vikings offense was worse under Defilipo.  Who were you?  Show yourself!

So so so so so glad he got fired.  I've been calling him out all year and I've been arguing with Packer fans that he would be a terrible head coach and that he has wildly under coached the talent on that offense.

So glad the Packers won't be hiring a guy who has thrived under greater minds.  Whew.

Well, he had to wait almost the entire year, but at least Stefanski finally got the OC job he deserved. Thought it was a crappy thing to do by the Vikings when they blocked him from taking the Giants OC job this offseason.

That should have been against the rules years ago. So stupid you cant take a promotion.

Vikings fans - was DeFlip really the problem here, or is this a scapegoat firing?

Honestly, I think he was a decent chunk of the problem. There are some issues with the offensive line that are still going to be an issue, but DeFlip was not doing well and wasn't working with the talent he had well.

DeFlip's offense seems to contain a lot of long, slow developing routes. Which works great when you have a fantastic OL like he did in Philly last year. Not so much when your OL is getting blown up routinely like it was last night.

Was it playcalling? Scheme? Personnel usage? I'm confused.

I'm almost happy it bit the Vikings in the butt. Watch Stefanski engineer three straight good performances out of the offense, the Vikings still miss the playoffs, and then the team brass has to spend the whole year wondering "what if" they hired the in-house guy who deserved the job in the first place.

So it looks like it was all Reich

I had a feeling one of the main 3 offensive guys (Pederson, Flip, Reich) was more responsible for that Eagles offense last year than the other 2. At first I thought it was Flip, but now I feel comfortable saying it was Reich, given each of their performances this year.

Or perhaps Pederson, Reich, and DeFlip together was what made the combination truly special?

Pats knew they had to break that group up, they sent out their espionage specialist McDaniels to get the job done.  Pats attack on all fronts
