  1. 1. Should Andy be criticized?

    • Yes, Mahomes clearly gave the Chiefs a better chance to win than Alex Smith

    • No, you can't bench Alex for a rookie

The main reason he lost in the NFCCG to the Giants was our returner...Kyle Williams. Not one, but 2 flubs. :(

People also forget, but Kyle Williams also fumbled an end around on a play. He got that one back, but he actually had three fumbles in that game and that fumble, while not resulting in a turnover, did pretty much kill that drive I believe.

You sir are wrong.

Mahomes had that bad interception against Denver where the ball slipped out of his hand and sure he finished with no TD and 1INT but the Von Miller, Chris Harris, etc. were full of praise for him for a reason. He was real good, evading pressure, throwing in the tiniest of windows, etc.

And about nobody saw it coming. Louis Riddick in the offseason or last year posted on Twitter that the kid would the league over by storm next year. Peter Schrager also thought he was the next big thing and now he is pumping his chest because he was right all along. I think Chris Simms also and a few other analysts.

Myself, prior to the season, I wanted to put a bet on Mahomes for MVP as the odds were so slim but I looked it up and it seems like you cannot do that type of bet online. Not that I was confident at all that he would win it but I thought it was a possibility. He was going to be a starting QB in perfect conditions.

Nobody saw it coming that he would be MVP this year but many people thought he would very possibly be great (like top 10 QB) right from the start.

Louis Riddick and Pete Schraeger were basing their opinions off the contacts they had deep inside the chiefs.  Schrager in particular talked about the chiefs fo people showing off videos of Mahomes in practice like they were their kids.  Riddick of course has history with Andy Reid.  Anybody who says they expected Mahomes to play like this out the gate is full of it.

He played great in Denver.

Not on the box score nut he got us up by 2 scores before we put in the 3rd string

Congrats on going up 2 scores on a rudderless ship that had packed it in. Mahomes did not play great.  He had a couple wow plays, but he also had some bad ones too.

For what he was working with, the entire 2nd string offense and defense, he did great.

Trubisky doesnt get a win there.

What does Tru have to do with this? And you must not have watched Tru last year when he was playing with the guys starting that not on NFL rosters this year.

Nick Saban won the Championship by switching to Tua.  He knew what he had, and he had the balls to make the switch.  Reid did not...

There's also wisdom in not forcing a situation.  Coming out of Tech, he was an incredibly raw QB both in terms of mechanical flaws but also in terms of the natural progression as a QB.  And there's a laundry list of QBs who have been put in as a rookie and struggled mightily.  The Chiefs did what was right and kept Mahomes on the bench and let him develop rather than forcing the issue.

Can a player really fumble 3 times in a game or is it the coach fumbling for still putting him out there after 2?

I was living in the Bay Area at the time. I felt so bad for that team after that game.

Alex Smith has the absolute worst luck in the playoffs.
