It has happened in other sports before (Marge Schott, Donald Sterling), so ...

Granted, those were under extreme circumstances. Even Jerry Richardson was for extreme circumstances. Jim Irsay should be on that list as well.

Precedence, yes. But not apples to apples.

Very true.

However, given that the Davis is essentially only fielding a nominally viable product due to revenue sharing, you have to wonder if time isn't on his side.

Oakland is somehow going to end up getting countersued by the NFL/raiders and owing them money.

The one thing the NFL does right is lawsuits.

They lost lawsuits to both Trump and Al Davis.

Trump won the suit but got like 1$ or some paltry amount.

Most recently the NFL settled for like 765 million dollars for the concussion lawsuits (it eventually was rejected and was made unlimited/untapped) not too bad.

Davis was 1-2 in lawsuits against the NFL. (Won the right to move to LA, lost the lawsuit for exclusive rights to the L.A market, also sued the league for stadium mismangement or something and lost that) there's probably more I've missed but eh.

https://www.michiganautolaw.com/blog/2016/10/27/32-shocking-lawsuits-nfl-teams/ this was a fun read though.

The City of Oakland should get the Cleveland lawyer that won the case to keep the name and colors with the city and not the team.

zero chance that happens. Cleveland had a contract with the Browns regarding the stadium; Oakland has no such thing.
