I always thought any prorated SB money was due immediately when a player is cut?

think that you can push all of the future bonuses into the following year (treat it as post-June cut).

Still, that's spreading it over 2 years.  Not the 4 years prorated overthecap is showing.

Oh, I believe the OTC table is showing what you would incur in cap penalties if you cut him and savings accrued during that particular year.

Ah, so if we cut him post june 1st NEXT YEAR it would be $3.5 mil hit.  That makes sense.  Confusing chart.

Spotrac doesn't cut and paste as well unfortunately.

That's unfortunate. It would be nice to have them side by side so we could show where there might be disagreements.

Yes. Unfortunately, it doesn't show what the following year's dead cap would be. What it should really be is (I think):

If cut in 2017: $3.5M dead cap in 2017, $0.234M in cap savings, $7.0M dead cap in 2018
If cut in 2018: $4.5M dead cap in 2018, $0.250M in cap savings, $2.5M dead cap in 2019
If cut in 2019: $1.5M dead cap in 2019, $4.500M in cap savings, $1.5M dead cap in 2020
If cut in 2020: $1.5M dead cap in 2020, $5.500M in cap savings

All of that assumes a post-June cut designation or cutting him after June 1st.

So who owns this debacle. McGee and McClain seem to be early really bad signings, yes bust!  Is it all on Allen or did McGlue set "the board" on F A's before he got dumped  ?

I'd blame McCloughan for picking the player, and Allen for the contract.  Why in the world we gave this guy a 4-year deal with $10.5 mil guaranteed is beyond me.

I can't see this happening.  Usually I'm a fan of Jones and his reporting, but no way do we cut someone this early that we spent so much money on without seeing how they do in the regular season.  The only way I could possibly see it happening is if he is being toxic in the locker room, enough for the leaders to go to the front office and tell them he's got to go.  Also, for those looking at stats, 3-4 linemen are not the best guys to look at.

Dan Snyder?

Again, it doesn't really matter who might be to blame at an individual level, even if it is the owner. The franchise is where it finds itself to be. If they are to terminate McClain's contract less than six months after signing him, then the franchise as a collective is to blame. From the scouts who said "yes" to the scouts who said "no" (apparently not loudly enough) to the GM to the talent advisors to the owner. All are responsible. Trying to lay the blame at one person's feet is a tiresome and tricky business.

At the same time, when he has been on the field, have you noticed him? Has his name been called? Has he gotten there a second too late so someone else got the credit, or forced the action in a meaningful way?

As far as I can recall, he's been a body on the field. Nothing more.
