Trojan
Reading the Deadspin Why Your Team Sucks, and uh... am I the only one that was oblivious to the stuff going on with Richie Incognito? Frankly, I'm not sure how in the world he got reinstated to the NFL to being with but here we are.
Trojan
Some frustrations right now in Raider Nation, and it got to me thinking what is the best we could look like heading into week 1 of 2019 if instead of all the moves we've made since hiring Jon Gruden, we had Hindsight Twentytwenty building the team. 2018. Round 1, we pick 10th and trade back as we did for the 15th, a 3rd and 5th. 1.15 Derwin James, S FSU Round 2, we reject the Titans trade 2.41 Harold Landy, Edge Boston College Round 3 we do not trade up, nor do we trade for Martavius Bryant 3.75 Orlando Brown Jr., T Oklahoma 3.79 Michael Gallup, WR Colorado State 5. 140 Maurice Hurst, DT Michigan 2019. We do not trade Khalil Mack, we now pick a little later and to fix that I'll take a later first pick and whatever compensation we got from finishing better with Mack, til a trade back to that pick all that compensation will be used to trade back up to our other original picks, but we still traded Amari Cooper. 1.4 Dexter Lawerence, NT Clemson (picked a guy that went later to use "trade" compensation picks to get our other picks back to original spots to sort of simulate Mack winning us a game or two) 1.27 DeAndre Baker, CB Georgia 2.35 Jawaan Taylor, T/G Florida 3.66 David Montgomery, RB Iowa State 4.106 Mack Wilson, OLB Alabama 5.140 Ben Burr Kirven, OLB Washington 5.149 Charles Omenihu, DE Texas 6.175 Keelan Doss, WR UC Davis 7.218 Alec Ingold, FB Wisconsin 7.235 AJ Cole, P NC State QB: Derek Carr, Mike Glennon, Nate Peterman RB: David Montgomery, Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington FB: Alec Ingold WR: Tyrell Williams, Keelan Doss WR: Michael Gallup, JJ Nelson Slot: Ryan Grant TE: Darren Waller, Derek Carrier, Luke Wilson LT: Trent Brown, David Sharpe LG: Jawaan Taylor, Jonathan Cooper C: Rodney Hudson RG: Gabe Jackson, Denver Kirkland RT: Orlando Brown, Denzelle Good DE: Khalil Mack, Josh Mauro, Charles Omenihu NT: Dexter Lawerence, Johnathan Hankins, Justin Ellis UT: Maurice Hurst, Corey Liuget DE: Harold Landry, Benson Mayowa SLB: Nicholas Marrow, Ben Burr Kirven MLB: Vontaze Burfict, Marquel Lee WLB: Mack Wilson, Jason Cabinda CB: Gareon Conley, Daryl Worley CB: DeAndre Baker, Keisean Nixon Nickel: Lamarcus Joyner FS: Karl Joseph, Curtis Riley SS: Derwin James, Erik Harris LS: Trent Sieg KR: Dwayne Harris K: Daniel Carlson P: AJ Cole Then bring back Mike Tice out of retirement to replace Tom Cable so the line functions. I wish I could see that team on the field Monday. Makes me a little sad how much I like this team and how the issues kinda fade away. The upside of AB and Tyrell isn't there but Tyrell and Gallup isn't awful. It avoids the Matavius and AB trades. It avoids the Mack trade. Seeing a DL of Mack, Lawerence, Hurst and Landry seems so far off from a reality, but easily could have been. Then Mack gets paired with two more defensive leaders in Joyner and James, and a system expert LB in Burfict. Carr gets to have an OL with Brown, Taylor, Hudson, Jackson and Brown which could rival the 2016 line. It adds some future hope to the LB group in Mack Wilson and Ben-Kirven. Addresses the CB2 in DeAndre Baker, and we still even get a new promising young back in Montgomery whose power style might mesh well with such a theorhetical power line. I wonder if the cap still would have worked out, because I hope it wouldn't otherwise why did we do this to ourselves. QB: Derek Carr ($22,500,000), Mike Glennon ($1,865,625), Nate Peterman ($645,000) = $25,010,625 RB: David Montgomery ($778,357), Jalen Richard ($3,095,000), DeAndre Washington ($787,299) = $4,660,656 FB: Alec Ingold ($500,000) WR: Tyrell Williams ($10,100,000), Keelan Doss ($500,000) = $10,600,000 WR: Michael Gallup ($860,000), JJ Nelson ($1,000,000) = $1,860,000 Slot: Ryan Grant ($1,250,000) TE: Darren Waller ($720,000), Derek Carrier ($1,700,000), Luke Wilson ($2,500,000) = $4,920,000 LT: Trent Brown ($15,250,000), David Sharpe ($645,000) = $15,895,000 LG: Jawaan Taylor ($1,426,077), Jonathan Cooper ($630,000) = $2,056,077 C: Rodney Hudson ($10,017,000) RG: Gabe Jackson ($7,000,000), Denver Kirkland ($645,000) = $7,645,000 RT: Orlando Brown ($860,000), Denzelle Good ($1,675,000) = $2,535,000 DE: Khalil Mack ($11,900,000), Josh Mauro ($500,000), Charles Omenihu ($617,098) = $13,017,098 NT: Dexter Lawerence ($3,431,230 I assumed he is picked at 10th), Johnathan Hankins ($2,978,125), Justin Ellis ($4,750,000) = $11,159,355 UT: Maurice Hurst ($649,761), Corey Liuget ($715,000) = $1,364,761 DE: Harold Landry ($1,530,384), Benson Mayowa ($1,700,000) = $3,230,384 SLB: Nicholas Marrow ($647,500), Ben Burr Kirven ($617,098) = $1,264,598 MLB: Vontaze Burfict ($1,803,125), Marquel Lee ($708,426) = $2,511,551 WLB: Mack Wilson ($690,566), Jason Cabinda ($570,000) = $1,260,566 CB: Gareon Conley ($2,854,817), Daryl Worley ($3,095,000) = $5,949,817 CB: DeAndre Baker ($2,090,035), Keisean Nixon ($500,000) = $2,590,035 Nickel: Lamarcus Joyner ($9,050,000) FS: Karl Joseph ($3,781,373), Curtis Riley ($810,000) = $4,591,373 SS: Derwin James ($3,061,661), Erik Harris ($2,500,000) = $5,561,661 LS: Trent Sieg ($570,000) KR: Dwayne Harris ($1,680,000) K: Daniel Carlson ($570,000) P: AJ Cole ($495,833) Comes out to $150,820,557 + ~$5mil in dead money from Tahir Whitehead +~8mil in other dead money is $163,820,557 which is well enough under the cap. We could have had the above team pretty easily since it drafts only players who were available undoes trades and doesn't assume new ones and grabs no prospects the forum community hadn't already been on or who the Raiders actually got. EDIT: Khalil Mack's money looked goofy low, and I looked and next years he'd make 25 to 26mil, so add 14mil to the 163m figure to not artifically dodge the number like the Bears are doing this year and accounting for dead cap it's still below the 188mil cap by ~11mil whereas we have about 16mil in space now. Humble_Beast
That team defense would be a lot more promising. Wideouts would suck

Irvin wouldn't have quit on the team and team chemistry would have won us more games. Long ago I said keep Del Rio til Vegas but... Best hindsight is... 83) Dan Marino 91) Brett Favre 01) Dree Brees 14) Derek Carr All QB's that could have been gotten with the last pick of the first round in their drafts. One gets old and you move on. LOL OCD is a hell of a drug...As I look in the mirror. LOL

Totty
With the release of AB, What does that put our cap at going into FA this coming off season? Who are potential WR targets? Spending spree? 🤔

Trojan
The path to the roster on Jacksonville for a WR isn't exactly the toughest road. Their top guys are smaller sized slot options and Doss offers something more like a poor Allen Robinson. I think he has a clear shot at learning the playbook adjusting and making the team there. We called him a media story line and cut him. Edited September 7, 2019 by Trojan
